Chosen event is the annual Midsummer bonfire, lit on Midsummer's Eve. The fires are often placed at lakeside (or if it's super dry weather, it can be put on a small platform and anchored away from the beach for safety/wildfire prevention), back in the olden days people might do even chains of fires along the waterside but nowadays it's few fires here and there. Since during Midsummer, and Finnish summer in general, the sun never sets and this is said to wake the dead and make spirits walk the Earth, so the bonfires are lit to ward off evil spirits. This used to be done at Winter Solstice too, for the same reasons. In modern times, the bonfire is more about tradition and something people feel like is part of the Midsummer spirit, and it's also often a good opportunity to burn old crap (that's safe to burn, ofc)

I think I've been playing around with this enough, and it sure as fuck isn't getting any better from it I started it earlier this month, tried to play a lot around with texture and also secondary light being cooler than the main light. I think the textures came out alright, especially on the ground in front of the fire and in the water between Bill and the bonfire. This was also meant to be a commission example but idk do I like this enough to use it as one

Bill is ofc participating in watching over the bonfire being lit and burn, standing on lakeside and basking in the fire's light. Granted, the fire is supposed to ward off evil but perhaps in this case it didn't work out? Or maybe it's the only thing keeping Bill at the little piece of land he's standing, not being able to come over the water...
