I literally looked up the creepypasta for this guy after 3 years of curiousity...
I regret it

Now that is truly inspiring. Laughing Jack is a character I jus can't get a design down for; he's very difficult for me to draw. I really love the painted smile, and how well you integrate it into his expressions
I can imagine this must have taken beyond forever. There's so much detail and uniqueness in each expression; it's insane! I envy your ability to stick to a task and finish such a colossal project. I would have given after about four

Happy you like it And.... Yea....Nop ... I'm getting comments ^w^ and favs , a lot of favs ....... , why did you mention 'getting something in return', now it bothers me ... i usually do not get anything in return for what i do
. I usually draw coz i love to draw , but it would be nice if i were that good to get something in return for my work . But i'm too far away from beeing a good artist ...i can't even draw environment , or old or scharry

I am sorry to have bothered you.
Let me tell you why I asked you that question:
When I was young, about 15 or 16, a number of people in my school had approached me and asked me to draw things for them. They said they would pay me, too. I thought it was a pretty good idea so I started drawing. And I spent a lot of time on it (because they wanted me to draw Sailor Moon characters and there are usually a lot of characters.) After I am done, I usually don't get paid anyway because these people will tell me they can't pay me for many reasons. After about a month, my mother found out what happened. She brought me to a mall to look at Sailor Moon posters. She told me: "Look, each poster costs pennies to produce and they sell for $3 each. You spend hours drawing something original and can't even sell it for $1. That's not fair. You can use this time to draw things for yourself (or study. She really wanted me to study and be smart). "
The reason why I asked is that you have been drawing this Laughing Jack character a lot lately. I can understand if you take requests from a lot of different people for interest and fun. It's good practice. But it really looks to me that the person who wants you to draw Laughing Jack is using your talent and time. Favourites and comments are temporary and doesn't mean anything in real life. I just want to make sure that you think it's a fair trade. If you think this is fair and you like doing it, then it's OK. But I am worried that this person is not being fair to you! You don't have to be a famous artist to get paid or compensated for what you do. It's just about what is fair.

I'm so sorry i scared you my friend >///<.No One forced me to draw Laughing Jack ^w^; , i like the character , that is why i draw him so much . And you didn't bothered me , it's just that it's true , i would like to be able to draw for money , but ppl want free stuff , when i charge money they stop asking for stuff , even 3D models are hard to sell
, even for 1$ noone will buy them . So don't worry my friend , thank you for your concern , i really appreciate it . And i'm not lucky when it comes to money. I can't make money by drawing or making 3D models , noone would pay me for that, that is why i did feel a little bad when you mentioned it , and happy in the same time , because you care about me ^w^.And it is true that "You spend hours drawing something original and can't even sell it for $1". This is the society we live in
. You might get more fame by copying than by being original . I stopped believing a long time ago that i could make money with my drawing . I just draw because i love drawing. The truth might be i love to color linearts more than i love drawing the picture from the start , but i have to practice and get better and better , ... who knows ... maybe one day i'll be good enough to get some requests in exchange for some $
.

Yeah... you're right and it's really unfortunate. People just want free stuff. Why pay for anything if there are people who are giving it up for free?
I think the world is not fair and some of us are making it worse. That's one reason why I don't take requests - I don't think it's really fair and I really don't have the time to do something like that. I have to survive on my own, pay rent and pay for my car. I can use my time better if I am not being compensated for anything.
I do worry about you, my friend. That's why I ask. I am sorry that the reality is something less than ideal. It's the same reality that we live in. And it's really not fair.
But as long as you are happy and you love what you are doing... that's probably the most important thing.

Yeah... I think the fewer wants and needs we have in the world, the happier we will be. The more desires we have, the less likely we are to achieve them. And that would make anyone really sad!

That explains everything , i want to much from life . If you have a lot of wishes , as long as you try to achieve them , you'll never get bored ...... even if they bring a lot of sadness and anger when you can't achieve them ....

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to kanogt [2015-08-01 05:23:04 +0000 UTC]
Well... some wants and needs are necessary. If we don't have a goal to work towards, we will be really lazy and bored. I think what we need is a balance.
If we have too many desires, we will be sad and angry when we can't achieve them. But if we don't have any desire at all... well, we won't eat, we won't sleep, we won't work... we'd just lie in a corner and rot away. That's no good, either. Somewhere in the middle is a nice balance where we have goals that we can achieve. It's nice to be able to work for something and actually get them, right?
I don't think you want too much in life, though. From what I know of you... I think you're just fine.

I don't have a goal in life , but i love being lazy , sleep all day long :3 .
I don't eat that much so i don't have energy to stay awake and work without a break for too long . That's the reason why now i'm at home for a while , and i melt in the bad in the land of dreams >////<.
Yes it's nice to work for something and actually get them , too bad that only happens in bedtime stories.

I believe if you have a goal and work towards a goal, you will get it. "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
I know it's not easy to have dreams, especially if the environment you live in is not stable and not safe. It's hard to plan for the future when you don't see a future. But we all have days when we feel like we have no energy and don't want to do anything. (That's like me, today! ) But I still believe that if we work hard, we get something in return. Of course, not everybody who work hard will succeed. But if you don't work hard, you don't stand a chance. Sometimes reality can be made from nice dreams. But we have to work hard to make these dreams into a reality.
... if I just sit in one place and don't do anything...
... my brain will rot!

Hmm... i dream of an easy life , without problems . I don't want to work hard anymore , it's exhausting :3.
Well... you do not have to sit in one place and do nothing... you could ...draw , play games , read manga or watch cartoons
. You can do so many things by sitting in one place
))))))) . Too bad you can't make money out of this

Some people can make a lot of money sitting in one place doing what they like. But not everybody. A friend of mine is a graphic designer (who designs commercials and make custom websites for people.) He sits in a chair all day. But he is doing what he likes to do and he is making money, too. That's not bad. Of course, his life isn't always easy and he has to work hard, too. But at the end of the day... If it's: "Sitting all day" "make money doing what you like" and "not having to work hard"... then two out of three isn't bad.
If I have to sit in one place all the time, I think I'll go crazy. Yeah... I know I can do a lot of things sitting in one place, but it's hard for me to do that. I have to get up and walk around! Otherwise my back will hurt and my shoulders will complain and all my joints will crack and creak. I don't like that very much... Making money isn't quite as important as making sure my body is still functional!
But I guess it means for some people out there... they are working hard in a job that they like... and a job that will make money. We should all be so lucky.

Lucky him .Some ppl are born with a lot of luck :3 .
I like scharring ppl with my cracking joints :3 . Money bring food on the table so .... you need to balance money and good health (which is almost impossible >x> ). Most of the jobs put there are not making me happy , they do not bring much money and they eat all your time . It's a hard struggle for survival ... but i'm trying to bypass this struggle . I'll try to get as much free time as i can , moahahahahhaha..... too bad time passes too fast , even when you do nothing ....
For example :i would love to work as a 3D artist for a game company ,... but in my country they only employ testers and rarely programmers , so a useless dream . I'm really bad at programming and the salary for a tester is puny >.<, and it's also a hard job. I want to work in a game company , but i do not like the salary , it's so little. And the game companies aren't near where i live, so most of what i earn goes to the rent and utilities, there is nothing left not even to pay for food
.In order to have enought to pay for food you have to worck from 8 in the morning to 8 in the night , and also work in weekends from 9 to 6 , in order to earn a little more so you can buy food . It is so tiring ... that is why i gave up and came back home , it was too hard , and i hope i do not have to go back , hope i find something near home
so i will not have to give all my salary for a stupid rent
.

Well... he's not exactly lucky. IT took him a long time to get to this job. He has a degree in biology before going into graphic design because his parents didn't support him. It was really tough for many years for him. But at least now he is in a good place.
But I do agree with you. It's too tough to work as a tester! I didn't know they paid so little! A 3D artist would be a great job if you can find one. That way you can work at home without having to move anywhere. Sometimes it's tough when the available jobs are so far away from you. But with digital work you don't really have to travel very much. I am wondering... there are companies out there who are looking for illustrators. If you can apply to them for a job, maybe you can find something? I keep seeing company-sponsored art contests on dA. If you can enter and win one of those contests, you would become famous! And it means people will be willing to pay you to draw for them. I think that would be very nice if it could happen. Of course, it may sound just like a dream, but you never know. If you can dream it, maybe it will happen in the future, right?
But I do want to wish you good luck in finding a good job. It's too tough to live on those puny salaries!

I have accumulated a lot of degrees , in informatics and automatics , in modern painting , in 3D graphic design , in hairstyling and they are all useless , i still can't find a job near home so i won't have to give all my salary to the host and on utilities and transportation ....
They pay so little only in my country .And all the company require movement here , they do not let you to work from home , or at least i never found one so generous to let me work from home regardless of the salary . Unfortunately i'm not good enough to win such a contest

Well, you're a smart person. I can see why you have so many degrees. But some of them must be useful somewhere, right?
But I do agree with you, when you have to spend all your money on transportation or rent, there really isn't much left to survive on. Maybe working from home is not attainable, but are there jobs closer to home? Somewhere you can work that you don't have to pay a lot for transportation?
Please keep looking, I know there must be jobs somewhere! Don't give up!
Yeah, I know what you mean. I just lost a contest, too. But I think that's OK - because I don't need the fame or the prize money. Someone need it more than I do. Someone like you! Even if you don't win, it's still nice to get your name out so people will know who you are and how good you are. It doesn't hurt to try.
