The Scyva is a unique, prototype Sienar Fleet Systems Aes-class command shuttle, designed as a heavily armored development of the Sentinel-class landing craft. The Aes-class is a flying bunker and command post. It features a large command center behind the flight deck. The shuttle can deploy and sustain a full company of troops (80) and serve as a barracks for extended operations. It has since become a mobile base and headquarters for special operations troops with most of the space not utilized by the relatively small embarked contingent converted to workshops, laboratories, and data centers. It is armed with four, forward firing laser cannons, a retractable armored twin laser cannon turret, and a concussion missile launcher.

Scyva is the personal starship of Imperial Admiral Kinnoc Rhourd, a Ubiqtorate officer. After General Crix Madine defected to the Rebellion, Grand Moff Tanniel placed Admiral Rhourd in charge of the Storm Commandos. When Grand Moff Zsinj took over the Quelii Oversector from Tanniel, Admiral Rhourd quickly abandoned the program’s training facility on Tangrene. He began independently directing Storm Command operations after the death of the Emperor, always working to keep these elite troops out of the hands of the feuding Imperial warlords, particularly Warlord Zsinj, who modeled his own Raptor units on the Storm Commandos. Admiral Rhourd had his own personal contingent of Covert Operations troopers outfitted in purple Storm Commando armor.

Little is known about Admiral Rhourd prior to his arrival on Tangrene. As a Ubiqtorate officer his service record was systematically altered in different ways across hundreds of Imperial networks to deliberately confuse and hide his origins. New Republic Intelligence only learned of his significance from Warlord Zsinj’s captured personal files, which included an extensive dossier on Storm Commando methods and operations, many of which NRI was not aware of. The shuttle’s name implies a connection to Wild Space and obscure myths of the Eternal Empire from ancient history, but it is considered likely that this is deliberate misdirection.

Using Zsinj’s dossier, NRI set about mapping the Storm Commando network. However, the entire network went silent shortly after the signing of the Pellaeon-Gavrisom Treaty. After several years of frustration and the disbanding of the Storm Command Task Force, Dirk Harkness, a former NRI officer and freelancer, journeyed to Zakuul tracing the connection with the shuttle's name after a late-night conversation in a cantina with a friend in the NRI familiar with the Storm Shadow program. His only report was that Zakuul appeared to have been through some sort of planetary catastrophe. His disappearance was not noted amid the beginning of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. The detailed NRI records of the Storm Shadow program, including Zinsj’s dossier, were lost during the fall of Coruscant with only the indexes surviving in backup data storage. Almost all mention of the Storm Shadow program was deleted from Imperial records sometime during the First Imperial Civil War.

After more than a century, Storm Commando units reappeared in service to the Sith Empire during the Second Imperial Civil War. However, these units answered to Sith Intelligence rather than Imperial Intelligence or the Imperial Security Bureau. A puzzling incident was reported in the aftermath of a battle when a curious ISB Agent asked a Storm Commando officer about General Weir. The ISB agent’s report states that the unnamed Storm Commando officer only growled, “Traitor.” The ISB agent was reportedly killed in an ambush the next day by forces loyal to Roan Fel. A formal inquiry by Imperial Intelligence about the service history of Admiral Rhourd received an uncharacteristic, direct response from the Sith Lord Darth Kruhl, denying his existence. No further queries have been made.
