OK, if this doesn't make you want to cry, you are officially a heartless cold person who kills little puppy dogs and eats them with ketchup.Yep, it's little Kuromaru. I know a lot of you thought he was cute as an adult, so now I bombard you with THIS!
And yes, I refuse to explain what happened. That is a story for another day.

Well, judging by the title, did his mother die? And judging by the blood on him, she was murdered right in front of him (as in a foot or two away), or he may have (accidentally or otherwise) killed her himself. Very sad.
