This is a great tutorial ^_^
But I have lots of trouble making my lines work in illustrator. I can never get them smooth or to go where i want them to go D: So i avoid using illustrator.

Awww, well it's just a point of knowing where your points are... plus, you can always move points with that white arrow. That's saved me TONS of times!

Chibit In reply to KariNeko [2007-05-26 15:08:47 +0000 UTC]
It just always really annoys me when I draw a line, and then try to draw another one near it, and it just modifies the previous line
so then i throw a tantrum at illustrator and shut it down D: That'll teach it!

A tip is that if hit the arrow key in the toolbox after you finish a line you can draw a new one with out it connecting to the last! ;3

how do you select the areas to be shaded? i use the wand or the polygonal lasso but that makes it look messy.

KariNeko In reply to Moru-sama [2007-05-25 20:25:40 +0000 UTC]
Well in Illustrator you have to actually draw the shapes with a pen tool...you'd have to do the same in Photoshop as well with the pen tool. ;3

Moru-sama In reply to KariNeko [2007-05-28 09:09:28 +0000 UTC]
yeah, i do vector with the pen tool in illustrator but it's totally different in photoshop and i hate itT_T what about the shading? do you use a mask and do something with the layers or what?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
KariNeko In reply to Moru-sama [2007-05-29 02:47:47 +0000 UTC]
Well I cell shade I do everything entirely in Adobe Illustrator with just the pen tool. No masks or anything. ;3

KariNeko In reply to Moru-sama [2007-06-02 19:07:00 +0000 UTC]
Yup! That's how you have to color in Illustrator mostly. Everything you see (minus the lineart) is shapes. ;3

well i know that; it's just that some of your pictures look like they've been cged because they're so detailed. it must have taken you a while.

Yeah.
Well, I learned Illustrator when I was in University. But they didn't teach me for logos and stuff only. But also for making posters, banners or any kind of publicity that have something to do with graphic design.
You could make a T-shirt with that program

KariNeko In reply to Brother-Tico [2007-05-25 20:04:45 +0000 UTC]
We used it for posters and things but mainly for logos since you can scale things in that program without losing quality for things like posters and stationary. ;3
