I was using 4E Plus. But any of the ones over 1.1 should be able to do the same.

I have no idea. It's possible you have a cracked / pirated version and that's what's causing the problem. I've heard that OC can do some funky things like that when you have a cracked version and a non cracked version on the hard drive.

can you save layers when you re-open a picture you've been working on do you know?

so...will the same layers open after you've closed the picture the night before because mine just merges all the layers the next time I open it, bleh

I'm using wingdings Japanese trial version OC so I've got no clue : P

Yes, as long as you keep the players separate, and never collapse them down, you can keep them separate just like in photoshop. You need to make sure to save it as a psd format, and not a jpg or gif or some other file type.

I was saving them as jpeg files >.<
and thank you so much, loosing my layers was really annoying me

does open canvas work on a mac?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lady-cybercat In reply to spades-ryou [2009-11-28 21:03:42 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure if they ever made a mac version. They've also stopped making the program unfortunately. I'd suggest seeing if Paint Tool Sai has a mac version. It's way more awesome.

Excellent! I have been looking for a tutorial for this OpenCanvas thing and finally I found it!

I just wanna ask something if possible:

What exactly ARE Layers?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lady-cybercat In reply to GreySidewinder [2008-07-22 20:33:43 +0000 UTC]

Most graphic programs have them. Like photoshop and gimp. Basically think of them as clear sheets of paper,or 'layers' of paper that you can color over and depending upon the setting they may or may not affect the layers under them

GreySidewinder In reply to lady-cybercat [2008-07-23 16:39:11 +0000 UTC]

OOOH! Like "priority layers", or something where you can work each thing individually?

Thanks alot!

lady-cybercat In reply to starrypawz [2006-05-17 05:11:56 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean? What are you having problems with?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

starrypawz In reply to lady-cybercat [2006-05-17 05:24:42 +0000 UTC]

It's just the first bit with the layers...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lady-cybercat In reply to starrypawz [2006-05-17 23:39:35 +0000 UTC]

Layers are like invisible pages. You can overlap them. a "multiply" layer just means it will show anything placed 'under it' . Imagine putting a clear sheet of plastic over a piece of paper you've colored all over. Anything like black lines on the clear plastic sheet will be on Top of the color below it. It basically make it easier to color pictures and avoid getting white spots.

starrypawz In reply to lady-cybercat [2006-05-18 05:28:17 +0000 UTC]

I know that. It was the multiply layer bit I was finding hard
