Description
More drawing things that could have been for someone else. lul.Anyway, a digi-painty thingy of Kyuubi escaping the cruel Summer storms under the protection of the forest.
:c I suck a forests.
Where I live, a real forest would be choked with atleast 100 different species of plant within a square foot of land.
Now ya know why they isn't a huge population of large animals here. D; The deer usually live near the wide open farms, and the local coyotes vanished after the horse lady built a ranch behind our land. And I've only seen one bobcat so I guess it lives near the neighborhoods rather than the large plots of forest.

Can't go hiking here, you'll get attacked by a zillion and one venomous snakes and/or crazy vultures. D; The animals here aren't scared of humans at all.

Ooooh, lovely Kyuubi!!
Truly astounding! I've been waiting for the time to be able to give a decent comment so this has been sitting in my inbox for awhile.
As many have said already, the composition is excellent. The groundline is at a perfect level, and the tree and rocks are in the perfect place to "frame" Kyuubi. It draws your eye directly to her, taking in all her eternal goodness, then your eye wanders to her surroundings. Nicely done, good composition is difficult to get.
How did you do that grass? It looks wonderful, realistic in both the way it looks and the colour.
And now to the main attraction..Kyuubi!
Excellent work on her, I especially like the position you've put her in. The head is at a nice elegant angle. The shading on her too is phenomenal. I've found another person who can shade white almost perfectly (I suck at white..) But of the shading of the rest of the body, I love it the most on the face. Her mouth line and jawline especially.
Lastly, I really like what you've done with the background. The way you incorporated the shadows of other trees on the more solid part looks so cool and foresty.
Really stunning job.

Wow, thanks. <3
Well I did the grass with some simple brushes (in my favs under 'Brushes & Tuts' ) and added several color effects along with gradients (set to dodge and burn) and using a scattered brush (set to dodge) quite easier done then said though, explaining isn't one of my strengths. XD
Much thanks for noticing her head, I too adore her sleek jawline.
Well I didn't really see shading the white parts as being different from any other color...but in the picture I didn't really 'shade' (use base colors then add darker shades) instead everything is 'highlighted' (I used darker, less saturated colors for a base then painted the brighter colors on top).

I'd love to live in the desert parts of Texas, but I'm stuck in the city. ;^;

Ah...well in my state, even the big cities are surrounded by endless forests. D:
And I first noticed it when I got in a plane for the first time, and I was like "Danm that's a lot of trees...I'm proud to live in Georgia! 8'D" And our state government is VERY protective of its forests/beaches/water/wildlife. If you so much as LOOK at a sea turtle on a beach you get 10 to 20 in the big house. D;

Oh marvelous! Hehee, I really like your more realistic take on Kyuubi. Your standard cartoony style is very charming in itself, but it's always grand to see your more lifelike pieces.
First off, my only critique is that her tail is at an odd angle from her body. It would look a tiny bit more natural if you positioned it a little bit more behind her. It's not distracting at all, though, I'm just being a prick as usual. x3 But beyond this, I've got to say that the picture as a whole is very interesting. Your well-honed skill for details and color come out very nicely in this piece, and best of all I've got to say that the composition is grand. I like how the foreground has depth and the background seems to be flat. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but is looks great. Heheee... very unique, like she's posing on a rock with a canvas painting in the background. x3
Hurhurhur... so, have you ever had any raccoon incidents where you live? I've heard that raccoons are most common on the borderline between residential and farmland. D:

Thanks.
Well, I tried my best to make her long tail feathers look realistic, but if it's the length/perspective you're talking about, then you must understand that Kyuubi's species of penguin is in a group of penguins called 'Brush-tailed penguins' which include Adelies, Gentoos, and Chinstraps, so her tail is suppossed to be very long and thick. c:
Nope, we've never had an incident with any animals really (excluding ants and wasps :C) but as for sightings, I've only seen some deer, some snakes, and a funny looking fox on our property.
And the only time I've seen a raccoon is on the road, squished. So I guess there isn't a large population in our city. But I live across the street from a national forest, so there's only a few houses, two tiny trailer parks, and a horse ranch (way behind our house) for like 10 miles on our road.

Ah okay, sorry. I'm kind of slow lately... gah... x3
Sorry to hear that you don't get many wild animals around where you live. Animals like deer and turkeys are really fun to watch, especially during breeding seasons when the males are strutting their stuff in your back yard. Haha! Of course... then there are the skunks... we've got a female skunk who just had babies, and they're stinking up the place. Damned skunks... D:

Aww. I've never seen a wild skunk before...and there are like way more species of skunk where I live than anywhere else in the country. D: Including the lovely Spotted skunk. <3
I think it's just cause our woodlands are so cluttered with undergrowth, so only small things like rats, lizards, birds, and snakes can get around easily.

Aww you get the spotted skunk where you live? Haaa, lucky. They must be a lot cuter than your standard [boring] striped skunk. Although... they are most certainly just as stinky. :U
