Any second now... I better get ready.
I look like a mess. Geez... What a great first impression. Ok maybe not 'first' impression.

"How ya doing champ?" Dad walked in to check up on me. "Careful you don't pretty up too much."

My hair was still tangled and my scarf was loose around my neck. I chuckled a little nervously.

"Hey... gotta dress to impress, right?"

"You don't need to overdo it, long as you don't look like you got trawled through garbage by a rattle cow. You look fine, stop fussing so much."

The only reason I cared so much was because this reunion was a long time coming. When my dad, Suvash, told me he took an earth magic class with Nina, I almost panicked and so did he. He tried very hard not to mention me around her. Nina might've not been ready for the news that he was the one to adopt to the child she... well, abandoned. But after some thinking, I asked him to invite her for dinner. It may be the only chance I get to see her again. I thought I'd be ready but... obviously I was really wrong. I was freaking out.

Dad kept trying to lighten the mood. "I just hope she doesn't scream and wake up Sari."

"I sure hope not, I don't think... Or- maybe she would? Oh damn... What if she does scream?! What if she freaks out or or or leaves as soon as she sees me?!"

" Dude chill!" Suvash put his hands on my shoulders " Breath...it may not be as bad as we both think ok...why don't you meditate until she shows up? Or at least help me set the table."

I calmed myself down and went to the kitchen to help set up for dinner. The scent of the food sure kept my mind off of the reunion. All I could really think about was eating. I only wished Ivy, my dad's girlfriend, could've joined us. She would've made the situation so much easier and calming, y'know? Then it happened.

" She's here...how do you want to do this. Just..straight up in her face or should I sort of ease her into it?"

I tried really hard not to panic. "N-no um... Ease her into it. I want her to feel welcomed. Besides, she still doesn't know that you have a son."

There was a knock on the door.

" Shit...gogogogogo!!!" Suvash shoo-ed me to my room. "and for chii sake don't wake your sister!!" he said in a loud whisper before he tidied his hair and goatee.

"Geez ok I won't I won't!"

" Uh..who is it??" He called to the door.

Her voice called back from the other side of the door. "It's me Nina! From Earth class."

After that, I froze. She was in my house now. Talking with my dad. She'd be having dinner with us in a few minutes. I could hear them talk from my room. I dared to even peek through the crack on my opened door. I could see her. She didn't change a bit. She still smiled, was kind, heck, she even had the same bow. All I could think about was that morning that I woke up in the Nook and she wasn't there. How the last thing I ever said to her was that I hated her... Man... I was a fucking brat. Finally, in their conversation, I heard my dad say it.

" Um...another reason I invited you here...well. I need to apologize about something."

"Apologize? What for? You've done nothing wrong."

" I kinda have Nina...I kinda haven't been entirely honest about something. " he sighed " First of all..I kinda lied about the ...head issues I have. I mean I really do have a scar there, but i'm not as brain damaged as you think. I was just..trying to come off a little crazy so I didn't accidentally tell you something."

What the heck, Dad? How'd you screw that up?

Nina laughed awkwardly. "Well that's a bit of a relief... The head injury I mean. Still... what is it that made you want to lie about that?"

" You may wanna sit down for that part. I want you to meet my son. " he looked towards me. "Whenever your ready boy."

I took in a deep breath and slowly stepped out of my room. Honestly, my heart was racing. I kept my head down until I finally reached them and spoke up.

"H-hi Nina... It's nice to see you again."
