Description
I was in bed trying to get to sleep last night, when this unpleasant looking fellow jumped into my head and demanded my attention to the point where I grabbed a pen and some pencils from my bed-side draw and had a go at drawing him. I must have scribbled for about 30 minutes (half asleep, without my glasses on) before he was satisfied enough to let me go to sleep. Then when I woke up this morning and found him on my bedside table and decided he warranted a little more attention yet, so I gave him a bit of a marker treatment this morning to finish him off.Not sure what he's so fed up about.. chances are I don't want to know! (chances are it's that, in my sleepiness, I drew his eye patch in totally the wrong place.. Sorry angry monkey-man!)
50 minutes, Biro, Crayola pencils, markers and gel pens on green sugar-paper.
(as with all of my real media pics, the original's for sale, drop me a note)

Haha! Your style sure is interesting y'know Kat.
I love the expression he has on, if i found that in the morning, chances are i wouldn't remember having drawn it, and i would probably have a laughing fit!

hey I've been there plenty of times too!! ... the only reason I remembered this guy is because the excitement of finishing him off is what got me out of bed that day! LOL

Hahaha, i know what you mean, that's happened to me before, i only got up to finish something off! Lol!
Also, i was wondering if you could give me advice on something, or tips perhaps:
How would you draw the feet of an anthro tiger as opposed to a canine? this is something i'm trying to decide. Can you help at all?

umm.. best bet is to look up some reference pictures of tiger paws and note the differences between those and that of a dogs.. I's suggest tiger paws would be generally bigger, more full and more powerful with bigger claws. - go find some reference photos

Thanks a lot, i've finished it now, and it looks great for my first try
It won't be going up on DA, it was a erm.. *cough* more mature commission. About a month ago i never would have accepted, but i NEED money, and i've found it's actually quite fun now, as derogatory as it seems.

well there are plenty of other sites that will let you post that kind of stuff, but just remember as soon as you get a name for doing that kind of thing it can effect your chances of other work later on.. ( you may find you get more of the same, but certain kids brands etc won't touch you if you have any associations with adult material) - just an fyi
I bet it is fun though, I've often thought about it myself (could make a bit of money off that I reckon!) but so far I've not had to stoop that far yet!

Haha, yyyeah, well i'm not aiming to be a professional artist by any stretch of the imagination, i'm nowhere near good, or consistant enough, and i've never had a natural ability for art, i'd have to work REALLY REALLY REALY hard. It's kind'a fun X3 But sometimes you look at what you've just created and say "did i really just do that?" haha!
You could make quite a bit from it, especially on FA, i mean heck, look at my art, i've made about £21 from 2 commissions. But then again, you are a professional, and you don't want to soil your good name. The only way i can think of doing it is to adopt a generic style, and do it under a different name.

Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to. - I even know what name I'd use lol .. haven't gone as far as registering it though... let's hope pickings never get so slim that I have to resort to that.

Haha gawd! Yeah i should hope not! I was trying to explain to a friend of mine who is doing art at college how you don't need to go to uni and get an art degree to be a professional artist, you just have to practice a lot and get your work out there!

yeah, you don't need to, but sometimes it helps. There are certain things you can't teach yourself really... but with enough determination anyone can do it to a certain extent. - the trick is making enough money to life off it.. that's another matter entirely

Indeed, i think it's about how you market yourself, i mean heck, you seen the crap that gets passed off as art?
Someone sold an unmade bed for millions...

yeah, but a lot of that is who you know and who knows you... it'd be foolish to think anyone could come up with an equally stupid idea and get rich overnight off it.... unfortunately the world don't always work like that -_-

s'just the way it is really.. it's the same with most industries, it's good to know because - like you said earlier; it's very important to market yourself correctly

Yeah, especially with classical singing. Once you have a good reputation and know the right people you're set, but it's so clicky that if you make one mistake like upsetting a director for whatever reason, news travels so fast, you probably won't get work again.

sulk-key? .. that's cooler in text than it is when you say it outloud ... kinda sounds like you have a stammer lol
might just compromise and call him skulkie .. or something similar he looks like he could make a pretty good companion for that grumpy ole red tiger I drew a while back... (as much as grumpy characters need companions?!) ...-I actually made a side-kick for that tiger too, called pinkie .. an annoying hyper little tiger cub... should really draw him up sometime too.. man I wanna draw cartoon animals so much right now!
good news though, just had one (very cartoony) page approved that jason was certain I would have to draw again! hurray! happy kat
