Description I am proud to present Deep Space VI! (not to be confused with a different project I have called SpaceVI ಠ_ಠ)

The culmination of a friend and I being Trekkies and VI nerds. *nodnod*

The setting is the Trek universe in the DS9 era, but the characters have all been supplanted with the VI cast, because HEY, AWESOME, WHY NOT? We really did take all specific character and throw them out, trying to make preference for VI character traits and themes within the world whenever possible. I assure you, I am WELL AWARE of any time something doesn’t fully “jive” with either the Trek or VI stories.

Info thus far:

Celes was kidnapped in her youth by the Cardassian Union and underwent surgery and brainwashing at their hands to try and make her an Obsidian Order agent. (as a sort of parallel with her magical augmentation) She grew up believing she was a Cardassian; it was a closely-guarded secret by the Central Command. Legate Leo, a resistance sympathizer, liberated her with Cid’s help as a teen and following reconstructive surgery to help her mentally break more with the past she wanted to forget, she rejoined her people for the remainder of the occupation. She rose through the ranks of the resistance quickly thanks to all her training she underwent for the OO, and following the liberation is a Bajoran General (on par with an Admiral in Starfleet) in the Militia and the Bajoran liaison with Starfleet aboard the station. She is second in command of the station.

Edgar is an Andorian Admiral, and the highest ranking member of Starfleet among his people. He is Fleet Admiral/Commander-in-Chief Banon’s right-hand man. He has command of the station. Sabin is still his twin, and is a Captain and commands the Defiant.

Terra is a Bajoran, and the Emissary chosen by the prophets. Her green hair is exotic among her people and a result of being touched by the prophets upon her birth, She was in a Cardassian prison for much of the occupation, up until Locke’s Maquis cell freed her and returned her to her people. Celes, at her behest, helped organize their interactions with Starfleet following the taking of the station. She is often aboard the station, rather than planetside, and is a major peace-keeping force between the Bajoran and Federation officers aboard the station.

Locke is a Trill, formerly Federation, then Maquis, now working with the Federation with strong ties but no longer feeling comfortable within the uniform and the organization’s confines. His willing separation from the Maquis and rescue of Terra has saved him from a prison sentence, but there are members of Starfleet’s top brass that want him watched, despite Banon’s assertions of his trustworthiness and usefulness. He’s Edgar’s go-to man for information due to his abilities to get around without making himself too known. Celes is begrudgingly thankful for his rescue of Terra from prison and subsequent return to her people.

Gestahl is the senior-most Legate in the Cardassian Central Command, and Kefka is a Gul.

Cyan is a Vulcan and the poisoning of Doma would be paralleled with an attack on their chief ambassadors and diplomats by Romulan spies cutting a deal with Kefka. He is a 3-pip Admiral within the Federation. This puts him a rank below Edgar (who has 4) but above Sabin.

Gau is a Klingon or part-Klingon child who was abandoned at the station shortly after the Federation has taken control.

Setzer is a freighter Captain/trader who constantly tries to wheedle time with the station’s Second-in-Command, Celes. I… actually haven’t thought of a race for him yet. (I’m open to suggestions?) Non Federation-races sound more appealing, since Jidoor was sovereign and separate from the Empire or the Returners.

Gogo is a founder. Possibly one of those sent out by the Dominion who decided not to return to them with information on Solids.

I’ve yet to think of good ideas for the Thamasans, Shadow, and Umaro/Mog. Shadow is obviously some kind of mercenary, but Relm and Strago need to be some sort of planet that’s not really tied all that closely to the Federation, Shadow is either from that planet as well, or Relm is a half-breed (which I ALSO like). No idea on the other two at ALL.

So. That’s what I have so far. /has killed everyone with a giant wall of text that none of them actually care about

You brought together an epic game and an epic series. It's like chocolate and peanut butter.

okay... thought for a second... Thamasans = Betazed? Instead of being a people of magicians... they're the empaths? ^_^; *shrug*

Betazed would be a really good parallel for abilities! The big downside to it would be that I want them to be socially removed, like how the Thamasans are basically in hiding? Matching stuff like that has been the biggest challenge, because like... EVERYONE is either BFF with the Federation, or The Bad Guys!(tm)

A friend suggested El-Aurians, the race of Listeners, like Guinan and Soran (the villain from Generations) whose people were mostly whipped out by the Borg. I got really attached to that idea because historically the Magi had been hunted down, and the mystique/rareness the El-Aurians fit a bit better.

and Setzer.... forever continues to elude me. I really don't want to make him a Ferengi, but that really is the best cultural parallel I can think of...

This is... this is absolutely AWESOME! Such thought and effort went into this, and the backstory... WOW! XD MAJORLY impressive!

I can't think of any suggestions for Setzer... The only thing that's coming to mind - as a comparison - is the title character in "The Outrageous Okona"... and I don't think that lines up with what you're doing, here. ^.^; (he's human - or close enough - besides). NO ideas for any of the others you mentioned. Sorry.

You haven't killed us with the wall of text. This sounds like an awesome AU. X3

Aw yiss!!

Just keep in mind that I'm taking a lot of things that are set to specific DS9 characters and throwing them out in order to have details from the game mesh better.

Like... the Bajoran's Emissary actually being Bajoran, to start!

I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR YOU TO WATCH IT EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~

What's this?? Combining my favorite game and favorite live-action show of all tiiiiime???

× 47

WELL, it's certainly an interesting mix you've concocted (so many rogues...!) As far as the Thamasans go, I'm thinking El-Aurians, the race of wise refugees who fervently hide their abilities from outsiders. Setzer ...could be a very progressive Ferengi. [j/k] XD;;; IDK, it's really hard to think of another ST species as associated with fortune and gambling...! Shadow could be a Romulan (who has to keep his identity under wraps), Umaro could be a Jem Hadar and Mog his Vorta handler ("I'm your boss, kupo!")

Geez, Kefka as the Butcher of Gallitep ...I'd be sold on that. :0

akfhaskdf YES El-Aurians! Yesssssssssssss x a billion

The problem with Shadow is that he's directly, genetically linked with Relm. Making him an El-Aurian as well would actually add some good VI closeness, if he'd been unable to kill a friend who ended up assimilated by the Borg. Oh. Oh! Yes. I think I like that a lot.

I assure you, Ferengi quickly came to mind for Setzer in terms of racial relations with the Federation and the gambling, but I just can't do it. I LOVE Quark, Rom, Nog, and all of them... but Setzer... with the butt-head. I just can't.

Jem Hadar and Vorta. Hm. That's an angle I hadn't considered! I was attempting to keep them all along the same battle lines, but that's a distinct possibility.

And yes. Yes a million, billion times. Kefka would very clearly do something like Gallitep. He wouldn't exactly be Dar'Heel, obviously, but yes to doing the same stuff.

And the portal to the Esper World is the wormhole, right? right?

Just as a possible alternative, Sabin would have been neat as a vedek (since he's classified as a monk). Andorians make me think more of the Enterprise era... ^~;

Locke looks good with the sexy spots, but how does he square with his indigenous culture...? (was he perhaps a promising candidate, but had to be dismissed after a mishap not unlike the Rachel tragedy~?)

I guess Mog and Umaro could be those rare defectors (but then all Vorta would be Moogles and yeah.)

I get shivers picturing Kefka deliver the "greater glory" speech.

...also I'm still drawing blanks on poor ol' Setzer. XD;

yes yse yes yyes/ aksdfhakldgh Wormhole=Esper connection is best. BEST.

Ooooh, Vedek WOULD have made a lot of sense! I... really wanted to make Edgar blue. I'm not going to lie, that was pretty much my motivation. And a healthy love of Jeff Combs. (you bet your butt I referenced him all over the place for my Andorians.) The fact that they're upstanding members of the Federation in this era was icing on the cake.

I was trying not to utterly overdo the Bajoran representation, too, so that things would be nice and varied, since I had such a large world to play in for character details.

I'd say he's got Dax, with the recklessness that accompanies his actions in this world, but it probably makes more sense to say that he's got one called "Cole" instead. I've toyed a teeny bit with the idea that Rachel was a previous host, or the significant other of a previous host. Very likely that she too was joined and could forgive him in some capacity - either during the ceremony where he would get to meet his previous hosts, or running into her new host, depending on the idea I used? There would definitely be some frowny faces that he, as a host, ran off with the Maquis, but then he starts rubbing elbows with Edgar, and by extension, Banon, and there's not a whole lot anyone can do at that point, since he's rather well connected and does important work for the Federation once more.

I'm still laughing at Moogle Vorta. I just. oh man.

Setzer, Setzer, Setzer. You are trouble with a capital T.

Oh gods, and when a Prophet is captured and turned upside-down/inside out in a Magitek Obsidian Order lab, it becomes an Orb.

Combs can make Ferengi cool and threatening. (not that I could readily cast Setzer as Brunt..)

Haha, well Locke is world-weary, so 350+ years of experience would suit him fine. One thing I like about the Maquis (and to some extent the mirror universe rebels) is how they can have 'upstanding members' like Vulcans and Trills, to break up the racial stereotyping that ST is often bashed for. :Þ

Yeah, Moogle Vorta is a stretch.
