Description
Creature concept for practice. The Mishibizhiw is a mythological creature from the Native American societies around the Great Lakes region of the U.S. and Canada. It's both a creature of the water and the underworld; behaving much like an alligator or a crocodile by dragging men and women into the water to devour.
I was looking up native american mythological creatures to see if their bestiaries included draconic creatures. I thought this guy sounded a lot like a native american version of a wyrm.
Edit: Been wanting to do a rough touch up of this guy for a while. Changed his face a bit, added more contrast, reworked the lighting a tad. Now onto new things!

Awesome! Love ur fusion of a kind of feline/amphibian like creature,u rlly did catch the water/underworld creature motif well too nd that jst makes it look so majestic nd like a tru predator all at the same time. I also love the way u showed him emerging frm the water in a way that had water droplets coming off his tail nd as always love ur use of colours nd ur detail wit the scales iz real kool as well.

Nah, Suicune is based on the Kirin, which is a peaceful animal with a temperament that has led to the nickname of "the Chinese Unicorn." Β THIS is a beast designed purely for murder. Β

I mentioned the changes in the image description. Upped the contrast, went over the lighting on the critter, fixed some things in the face. Minor changes really but I think they help the image.

Ahh very neat! I like all the creatures you've drawn inspiration from, they all come together to make something rather unique. He definitely looks quite fierce. I particularly like his tail and the scaling texture you did.

Thanks, and ditto, I want to try and paint more in the future. There's tons of interesting critters out there aside from the ones featured in the more popular Norse and Greek mythologies.
