Btw, have you ever noticed that in manga Sebastian NEVER hints what kind of demon he is. In anime we see a crow/raven sitting on a small tree when he makes a contract with Ciel in the first episode. And in the last episode we see lots of black feathers when he turns into his demon form. Also, in the second season we see lots of symbolism and hints of both Claude and Sebastian's demon type. The only problem is... those scenes weren't in the manga. The only moments when we get any POSSIBLE hints that Sebastian is a crow/raven demon are all those art pictures, like him wearing a raven/crow mask. Heck, I'm not even sure if demons from Kuroshitsuji have some animal types. DOUBLE HECK, during all these years, we know a LOT MORE about Grim Reapers than we know about demons in Kuroshitsuji.
So really, are we absolutely sure that Sebastian is a crow/raven demon? Yana, please give us some more information, please.

You have a point! XD Every hint ofΒ his "demon form" in the manga shows no physical shape, just a dark flame entity. And we all know the second season was all fun and games haha

Seesh, Yana Toboso really should inform us more about her characters and their races. IT'S BEEN 8 YEARS ALREADY!! Won't we get any specific information about demons? While role-playing, me and my friend had to come up with lots of our own things without knowing if it's possible with demons from Kuroshitsuji or not.

I mean, we don't necessarily need the information being told in the manga. Yana could just publish some separate journal or information short-story, something like "The Book of Demons", where she tells all about demons' biography, or "Book of Death" where is all information about Grim Reapers.
I had my favorite series when I was young, and the creators of that series published a journal with all trivia information about the main and side characters, like their family, biography, favorite movies, food and how their rooms look like and why.

But it would be nice to know more about these races, both demons and Grim Reapers, but mostly demon race, since we only know that they live for centuries, eat souls and are stronger than humans and that's it. Mystery is nice, but if you won't tell ANYTHING, specially when people seem to get lost because of that untold information, then it just kills the suspense and appreciation.
Just a simple information would be nice, like how does one become a demon, like you said? Or do they all really have an animal types? What determines what makes this demon a spider demon and what makes this demon a snake demon? One has to be good with plotting and one a good liar? Are there any female demons? Can they reproduce with each other? Can they have a family or just act to have a family? Do they really all have pinkish demon eyes? Can they shape-shift or do they always have only one human form? Do they have other weaknesses than salt? (Yes, as you can remember, Sebby got some stomach pain in first chapter when Ciel tricked him to drink salted lemon drink.) If demons can't taste human food, how come Sebastian can taste spices? Human food have spices in them, right? Do they work for Satan? Are there other Hell creatures than just pets that look like aliens from Alien series? Do all demons have same powers and abilities? And most importantly... Do we ever get to see some more hints of what demons look like in their true form?

Very briefly once, though I didn't know he was a demon lord!
This would not surprise me at all considering the entire Kuroshitsuji manga, each arc is based on a different historical event or folklore tale or something else significant in England's history. Yana has done heaps of research even down to the names of Snake's snake s are artists that at one point did a work relating to the theme of selling one's soul. So yes, I would believe Sebastian is derived from this Malphas
