Description LAST MIND-NUMBINGLY LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENT! This one was for Glen, resident medieval heavy arms expert and chainmail-maker. He's absolutely obsessed about this comic series called Nodwick (www.nodwick.com, for anyone interested), which kinda parodies a lot of D&D-type roleplaying games. The main characters are Yeagar, the brawns-beat-brains-give-me-ale strongman, Atrax, the wizard with morals as dubious as Yeagar's, Piffany, a cleric who is quite possibly the purest, least-corrupted soul that can be found in ANY dimension (or comic, for that matter) with magically healing duct tape, and Nodwick, the all-purpose shovel/latter/catapult projectile/deathtrap tester/monster bait/stuff-carrying henchman. He generally gets killed several times a day.

For some reason I do not understand to this day, Glen is convinced that I would make a perfect henchman. He regularly calls me "henchman," tries to make me obey him, occasionally attempts to use me as a ladder or as catapult ammo, and has convinced Heather, Kim, and Sarah to do the same. Usually, I protest violently (if violently means throwing a pillow or refusing to make any more cookies), but in honor of Christmas, I decided to rescind just this once.

Here, in honor of Glen's obsession, is my take on the cover of the first Nodwick comic collection (I nicked it off Glen to copy from). Glen as Yeagar, Kim as Piffany (she's the Weather Oracle! WHAHAHAHA.....*ahem* Sorry, in-joke), Heather as Atrax, me as Nodwick (only this ONCE, Glen!), and Sarah as queen of the pile of stuff 'cause there weren't any more characters left.

Artist's Note: This was by FAR the easiest to finish, because I just had to copy off a set drawing style and use simple cartoon-style coloring instead of all the funky shading I've been doing for everything else. I got it done in only four days, which is something of a record for me.

Ooo, and all of that stuff I'm carrying? Mweheh, it's aaaaall in-jokes. Every last one. I love the in-jokes. I'll let you in on one, though. The little stuffed striped thing? That's a stuffed armadillo that we've constantly been hiding in unexpected places for the past year. It's shown up in freezers, showers, beds, trees, lunches, the ceiling....it's only right that I try to sneak it into this picture. Drat, if I'd thought about it sooner, I would've tried to sneak the armadillo into the other pictures, too.

Well, there's the end of a small era. The Christmas piccies are DONE. I was expecting to start a flood of other, more quickly-finished artwork right about now, but it appears that I'll have to stall that because most of my free time is going to be spent sewing a Renaissance-styled dress and memorizing Renaissance songs for an SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) event called Allthing happening later this month. Apparently, I've been voted group bard because I sing an' play my recorder all the time. D'oh!

I only have eleven issues of nodwick. I wish I could get some trade paperbacks, but I can't afford a credit card.

I love the comic book-y shading on this one! And the lens flare magic beams...ooo. What's the font up there? Looks Harry Potteresque. Altoghether I'm impressed at how much this looks like a real comic book cover. Heehee, henchman. =] My brother used to say I was his sidekick and order me around.

XD Thanks! I tried to make it as exact a copy from the original comic book cover that I could! The font is...uh....gimme a minute. >:d *zooms to look at her Word program* A font called Indigo Joker. It's pretty!

Ooo, and if you're interested, here's a link to the original comic book cover:
[link] It's the fourth one from the top on the right-hand column. >.9 That was the biggest picture I could find. Grr.

XD;;; NO, no, no! I had the actual, full-size comic book cover to work off of. :B Glen's an avid collector of Nodwick comics, so I just nicked the first one to draw from for an afternoon and then snuck it back. XD If you want to see the full-size version, IM me or email me or something an' I'll scan it in an' show it to you! :b I was just being lazy and trying to find an online picture so I didn't have to plug my scanner in.
