Description
Spent a glorious day at the Leipzig Zoo again and met a wonderful fellow deviant (*waves*)!! The most wonderful thing was that there were three little tiger cubs to see not even three months old! And their proud father knew what his fans wanted and gave us proof of what a good swimmer he is!Related content

Awesome shot. What kind of camera did you use for snapping a shot of this cute furball?

It was a Sony Alpha 100 DSLR. But you could probably have made this shot even with a compact camera, because that kitty cat was about 3 meteres away from the glass - and me. :-D

Thanks for the tipoff. All I have at the moment is an KODAK EASYSHARE Camera, C1530. (Which is still a good camera.) However, if your subject loves close-up shots, than that's better still!

It definitely helps a lot. :-D

Always room for one more tiger photo, if it stands out from the crowd. That would be a challenge to paint, all those reflections, but that is what makes the picture.

Thank you, I agree. There can't be enough (good) tiger photos! This one still makes ants crawl through my stomach at the thought, it was an incredible feeling to have this massive cat look me directly in the eye from a distance of perhaps 2 metres!

Oh yes, he is. And if he looks at you from a distance from at most 3 metres, you get to feel quite funny.

Thank you. I got a fuzzy, warm feeling in my stomach when that tiger swam toward me. There is something incredible about being looked at by a full-grown Siberian Tiger from 3 metres distance.

I bet! Even when I take their pictures at the zoo and they lock eyes with me, I get a little scared, lol
If you like lions, you must watch the true story of the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness" It will amaze you at what these two lions did, very creepy.

Yup. Wonderful landscapes, music, and what they did with the two lions was spectacular.

I agree, those two lions were so smart, you can even still see the cave they lived in.

Well, I still think what they did was somewhat unnatural. I read a book once about the topic of man-eating lions in that part of Africa. It seems like the percentage of man-eaters there is much higher than everywhere else on the continent.

I thought it was strange how it was two male lions hunting together, isn't it the female who does most of the hunts and males don't hunt as a team like that?

Usually, yes. Although there are also prides that are ruled by brothers. It helps them to defend their territories.

Oh, I didn't know that!
I think they said those two weren't related, can't remember, lol

I think they were brothers, but I'd have to look that up.

LynnJackson In reply to Katzilla13 [2012-08-01 11:51:48 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I think they said they weren't related at all. Let me know what you find out, it says something about it in the movie.

I didn't find anything yet about them being brothers, but it would be logical, as male lions won't tolerate other adult males around them. Here's what Wickipedia has about them (including pictures):

Thanks for the link,
I checked around and most say yes or perhaps brothers. They said it would explain the way they hunted so well together if they were. I guess we'll never know for sure, either way it's a great story.

I especially love the myth that in those two lions, the continent itself became alive to prevent that railway of being built.

I know, they truly were very smart and different. Remember they took the bones to their cave from all the people they killed and how they ignored the fresh blood from the cow and knew where the hospital had moved.
