Probably because he's got a weird coloring that you don't see very often. He isn't of "standard" coloration so I could see where you'd be confused. Plus this is before his ears stood. If you look at his pictures when he's older its pretty obvious he's 100% gsd. (:

he's 100% GSD, his color standards are just different, its probably a type of albinism, but he sure is a GSD.

He is SO adorable! I've never seen a german shepherd dog with blue eyes.
I have a GS dog and her name is Sassy. Actually her real name is Sassafrass because she has the colour of root beer. Unfortunately she is living with my family in Kansas-- I just moved so I'm fairly new to the area I'm living in right now.
We live in the same state, so if i ever run into you, you better have your dog with you.

Hahaha I will keep that in mind! Sadly his eyes are no longer blue, they turned a really brilliant gold around 6 months. Boo!
GS dogs are pretty much THE best breed so you are wise on your canine choice! Haha!

I love Liver and Blue German Shepherds! I think his eyes may change a little, but they will probably be a shade of greenish-yellow rather than gold. ANy way he is beautiful! I too have a pretty pup, he is a Red Sable color. I would love to have a blue...the color is one of my favorites in the animal world--blue great danes, blue shepherds, blue cats---I lOVE the color!

lovely pic. The only problem is the huge white blot in the sky. thats from heightening contrast i now, but i photoshop you could probably burn it a bit darker to normal sky colour.

Just noticed this in somebody's favorites. Gwash he's cute. I dunno, I like the name Kobi.. How old is he? I just got a mixed breed puppy myself recently and he's 8 weeks old now.

In those photos he's probably nearing 9 weeks. Now he's 11 weeks today. I ended up naming him Kaiser, seemed more fitting as he sometimes acts like he thinks he's a King. XD

I've read that in some cases, they do stay green, but typically they will change. I'm excited about the change but man, this green is killer.
I'm also thrilled about your yahoo group. I'm on the forum at germanshepherds.com but I'm coming to believe I'm the only liver owner there is on the entire forum! Haven't seen ANY blues and very, very few white GSD's. *scurries off to your group*

Wow, you're so lucky to have a German Shepard. They may not be my favorit breed of dog (they're close to the top though), but they are absolutly the most beautiful breed there is.
Kaiser's a nice name. I like it. Lets see what's another name... I know, how about Kasshoku, it meens brown in japanise.

That's an incredibly cute puppy. Doesn't even look as much like a german shepherd as much as it's just fuzzy and adorable. Either your pup must be that cute all the time, or you got an especially wonderful shot of him. Or both if that's the case.
You could call him Ciaran, it's got the K sound without the K. Or Kitty, because not enough people name their doggies that.
