Wow, what kind of dog is that? My dog looks very similar in terms of colouring, and she is half German Shephard.

Kaiser is a German Shepherd. His coloration isn't very common, it's caused by recessive genes. More common, desirable colors for the show ring are tan and blacks, etc.

Yes, a lot of breeders don't breed this color because it isn't desired in the AKC show rings like I said, but if you just want one a family pet, they are no different than any other GSD aside from coloring. Kaiser is absolutely brilliant, so I am not quite sure why they don't consider it a desirable color. If you want more info, check out [link]

not only is your dog a joy to see, but he's a fine german shepherd dog in his own right. i can actually "see" the intelligence in those wise eyes... i bet he's an old soul, with the heart of a curious pup. maybe not. but i do enjoy being around dogs, (check my myspace profile!) but this guy is definetely YOUR SOULMATE!

HAHA yes if you stol ehim I would have to track you down. The reason he's got a dominantly brown coat is because he's got a recessive gene. He's sort of like a pure white GSD or a blue GSD.

My uncle used to have a Shepherd named Kaiser.
I am in loooooooove with Shepherds. As a kid, I was obsessed with dogs -- had books galore, and thanks to that, I can still almost accurately guess a breed by sight -- but Sheps top the list! And yet with all my obsession, I'd never come across this color... white, yes. Black, yes. All the other color combos, yes. But this is just postively gorgeous.
An interesting breed I've gotten into as of late is the Beauceron -- Shepherd-like build (a bit stockier) and temperment, with a bit more of Doberman-like coloration, mostly. So now for me it's either that or a Shepherd.
(But I still reeeeeeeeally want a Shepherd. And this pic solidifies that!)

Wow, just google imaged the Beauceron and they are GORGEOUS! I haven't ever heard the name but I've seen the dog before. I never picked up on how similar their build is to the Shepherd though!
Kaiser is a liver and tan GSD. He's got two recessive genes. Because of that he can't be shown in conformation because he's not a perfect representation of the breed (meaning solid black or black and tan) but he can do just about anything else. Its the same way with white and blue GSD's. Luckily I didn't want to show or breed him and he's an AMAZING dog so now that I know his coloration exists, I am absolutely in LOVE with it.
If you're like me at all you could look at pictures of dogs for hours, so here are a couple sites. The first shows a list of what all colors a GSD can be. REALLY interesting if you've never seen it before. The second is another coloration of the GSD that I think they're working on getting recognized. They're called panda shepherds.
