The magic wand tool I've been using keeps going over the lines. If I use the bucket or paint tool it would color the outline too. How do I stop it?

ShyNapQueen In reply to Fight4tru-love [2018-07-31 08:58:19 +0000 UTC]

You must've been using it on the same layer where your line is. To fill drawing with colours just create a new layer and then use magic wand or bucket.

Hope I helped you!

how do i find the smudge tool? idk where it is rip

CthulhuJesusFish In reply to Roguskii [2017-04-15 19:36:23 +0000 UTC]

Click on the little brush icon in the toolbar. It is second from the left. Then, a menu should appear, which has lots of tools in it. Select the seventh tool, the finger pointing down, to get the smudge tool. Sorry for the late-ish reply

Question, I'm getting a lot of brush lag. The lines are lagging behind the touch input. Any idea how to fix this?? :/

what i do is shut my devise down, and open the app again
tho tbh ibis paint doesnt work well with apple products, ive noticed. i use an android, and everyone else i know thats tried to use the app has an iphone, and it always is slow, and the stabilizer doesnt work :0

I use android too.

nanoonri In reply to Kawibun [2017-04-05 01:56:14 +0000 UTC]

then i would try restarting your devise then. it usually works for me, or if not, i just leave it be for some time

Kawibun In reply to nanoonri [2017-04-05 02:13:32 +0000 UTC]

haha that's didn't fix it, my comment is damn old by now so I found a smaller canvas helps reduce the lag.

you are welcome ! honestly the app is updated regularly and this tutorial could not be helpful because many featured has changed

about saving movie
go to
ibis galley
click in your photo
choose next the right icon next to share icon
save movie (Mp4) or change the save directional if you have storage  in your phone
click on it > choose the time then wait
then check a folder in your phone > storage > go to movie > you will see your file

I hope this is helpful

Do you know how to shade and highlight? I'm trying to draw skin and other things that have very varied colors and blemishes, but I'm not very good at it and I can't seem to figure it out. Please and thank you!

This may be a silly question, but how do i colour in my drawing after drawing the outline without colouring over the outline? I've been trying for hours and i just can't work it out! I understand that layers has something to do with it, but i'm not very experienced with them!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Kauthar-Sharbini In reply to Suksterxd [2016-05-04 15:18:09 +0000 UTC]

hello sorry for late reply,
no your question is natural for the first time
here you go you have many different way i will tell what i always do
1- after you draw the outline > open new layer >from the layer image drag it below the outline layer > start coloring
2- after you draw the outline >open new layer > sit the layer effect as multiyplay ( it allows you to color over the outline without delete it)

hope these are helpful
good luck

I don't know if I could be much help or get your question correctly
Just put the colour layer somewhere under the lineart layer NOT above the lineart layer
If you have any issue about ibis paint you could ask me if you want ^^ I happen to use it too.

When you upload to dA, my art comes out blurry and unclear. Do you know how to prevent this from happening?

Kauthar-Sharbini In reply to nanoonri [2016-05-04 15:11:38 +0000 UTC]

how did you save the image
ok i will tell you if you dont get it please tell me
open ibispaint , go to your gallery , up there from the right to left  you can see icons include ( edît , trash and duplicate arrow icon , play , art property then plus add)

so what you have to do is
go to gallery > select the art > click the duplicate icon choose export picture to photo library, > go there and you will find your art

also it depends  which size you choosed from begin i also use HD size (2048x1536)

hope this helpful ^-^

good luck

How thick the lines should be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kauthar-Sharbini In reply to Troops21 [2016-01-09 11:39:14 +0000 UTC]

depends on you , what you need for inking
for realistic arts it better not to do too much thick line , just a simple lines and the colors will do the rest of arts
for Manga or anime style I suggest around 3-5 ^^

hope this would help

How do you change the lineart colour?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kauthar-Sharbini In reply to IrisNeag [2015-12-31 10:03:35 +0000 UTC]

at begin select the pen or brush , change the color from black to any color you need

if you already draw the main lines and you want to change the color of the line
- you may select the lines by using magic wand [select] , and change the color
- you may brightness the lines by using transportation [ if you are in different layer] .

I hope I answered  to your question correctly

if you need any help I will try my best to answer

thanks

it depends on your arts skills , the software same as SAI .
so if you are good in realistic style , you will do it
