I love drawing and i know how much some want to live with and through it,
Yet, that's how i know how harsh it can be. I would probably say the same to my kids.
No lack of understanding, just fear. ( even if you're dad looks more like ''idc'' )

I SO missed these! These little...comic strips? Is that what they are? Whatever, they're freakin' awesome! And totally relatable. I mean, this is so true that it's not even funny (But it is). It's right up there with people asking you to draw something upon finding out that you can draw or critiquing/guessing at your artwork before you have the chance to even finish. It's infuriating!

my mom acted about the same way. Except she took it to extremes. Your art is honestly one of my favorites and people obviously like your stuff. It's really lame when parents aren't supportive of what their kids want to do. Just don't be like me and let anyone shame or discourage you out of anything. Cause you can get places with your art B)

Not only about drawing, but whatever I do that is important to me is seen like "nothing" by my parents! It's really frustrating - especially because one the "nothings" I am planning to do is related to following a career path that they don't see as serious!

Doing art is definitely doing something. Its hard work. I'm grateful for parents who supported me. It's been apart of me since I was little, like since I wasΒ three. When art is compulsive, you can't help but do it. I've been lucky enough to be a professional artist for nine years. Do I make the big bucks? No. Is the artist life a struggle? Yes. Should you also have something going on the side? Yes. As with any profession, one should always have something going on the side.
But to say drawing is doing nothing... is infuriating. An artist actively is using their brain when they draw. Its just not the side parents want used.
Also, people pay money for art that is good. You only get good by practicing. Don't give up artist!
