(pansexual noises) β¦ okay but honestly I feel like referring to things as yaoi and yuri tends to objectify a relationship and it's better to perceive them from a realistic point of view, which also tends to make it much more interesting because it focuses on telling a real story rather than just kinda being like "ho ho ho look how wrong it is because gay is bad you like that don't you" (coughs as I share potentially contentious opinion)

Oh I do agree on that, the genres definitely have a lot of problems. Actual LGBT romance stories do tend to be higher quality as a result, though they're a smidge harder to find in some circles.

I'm straight but I don't mind other people liking Yaoi and Yuri. People have different tastes so it doesn't bother me XD

It refers to a relationship (whether emotional or physical and usually romantic) between two girls also known as GL (Girl's love). Same as how it is yaoi is two guys (BL).

Not exactly, but I guess it's a possible reference? The kanji for Yuri (ηΎε) and Yuri On Ice's Yuri (εε©) have two different meanings from each other.
Like honey--neko said, ηΎε is also the word for lily in Japanese alongside with its current usage occasionally as symbolism to GL.
While εε©, I think it means courage?
