Eh, I guess I can like both at times. Depends on the quality and what mood I'm in. I don't usually support yaoi ships in other shows that aren't actually meant to have yaoi/yuri relations. (... fanships, basically)
I loved Yuri on Ice, though, which is probably the only thing I can count as yaoi, and just barely. If all yaoi and yuri were good and more focused on the romance, I'd probably like them more, but yuri tends to lean towards the hardcore porn side of things.
I honestly don't care if a guy likes yuri or reads hentai, or anything, pretty much. There are a lot of things that would stop me from being friends with a guy, but those interests are not any of them.

True. I like both yaoi and yuri, but mostly because of the romance, I don't mind the NSFW sometimes but it makes me uncomfortable when there's not backstory or plot at all. I do like fanships though, but just if I can actually see it happening.

Yeah, poor development on plot can make the NSFW stuff feel less natural and more uncomfortable.
Not that I don't like any fanships, but I tend to like ones that are hinted at by the canon material or otherwise seem like they'd go well together.
(This is an overly specific example, but there are two characters in the Sonic Archie comics that usually don't interact with each other in the other games/shows they are in. They just don't have much of a relationship in the other forms of media they feature in because they rarely meet, but they work well together when they do interact. The male is very prickly with almost every other character, and he usually does whatever he wants according to his current mission and doesn't care if people hate him for it. He wrongs her somehow while doing his job, and rather than ignoring her anger, he makes an effort to make it up to her/make her understand that his mission was never intended to hurt her or anything important to her, which it ended up almost doing. Despite knowing her even less than other characters. who he really doesn't care much for. He cares more about her opinion of his character. They'd be good friends, at the very least, I think.
TLDR; Two characters have an understanding that they don't have with others. I talk too much.)
I don't usually ship people that are polar opposites either. That seems to be something people like to do: shipping people that are actually at each other's throats in reality. I suppose their justification is that intense hate and intense love are somehow not that different, but I don't generally follow that philosophy.

Exactly XD I laughed a lot when I'd read the Witcher - man's book about the man, because there are many yuri epizodes. I laughed because actually in lady's fantasy books there are always yaoi epizodes or discussions. After all, tastes differs, it's actually the same thing.
