I've had the same problems when trying to write for long periods of time. It just takes so long to get your pieces coming together that all the in between time (albeit still work time) looks like you're doing nothing to just about anyone else. Heck, even when writing a research paper, most of my time is spent brainstorming which points from the research I should use.

sigh..... Artist issues: when people think art is so easy, it's nothing - you just randomly click your fingers and art happens. Some days, I wish I *could* just click my fingers (usually the days when my fingers feel like they're falling off).... Meh... Back to the hard work

The awesome thing is my dad supports my art, not that he particularly wants me to do art, but that he is okay with it and appreciate the time and effort and skill required to do so. Sometimes he looks over my shoulders and asks me, "YOU drew THAT! Pretty good~" ha

Its happy yet so very sad this is true. x'D

Most people do not think creating art equates to living or "contributing to society", when in reality that is EXACTLY what art is. It reflects the minds of the people living it. It depicts the struggle/happiness/horrors/wonders of the lives in which we live in. It is the lives of people shown in a visual context, its life itself.

Though sadly most people do not see it that way..usually its only the people creating it or support these artists.Β

I hope you continue to do what you do kawacy and have an amazing day

Just please, don't hold any grudge against your father. People have different opinions about things. Many went through some kind of hardship and value only practical things needed for living like engineering or medicine.
Mine was kinda similar, but only in a way of "if you want to do it, learn it properly". Though I'm a crappy illustrator, I'm doing quite OK with animation and it makes him happy.

Some people don't appreciate the time and effort it takes to create art but they don't understand that everything is an art form, from creating dishware to building your dream house to creating a comic book. It all takes time and lots of concentration. It may not be as physically demanding as some jobs, but its still work. Sometimes it can get physically demanding, especially if art is how to put the food on the table, because of all the long hours taken to create art pieces.

Lots of time I try to do what I can in house work, so when I feel it's done, I come into my corner to write or draw.

Not all parents are like that. My mom could be like that, but only when I gamed too much, if it was 3D og drawing it was ok.
But one time a friend called asking 'what are you doing" Me: drawing... he's answer: are you bored??? -_€

I hate people like that. They completely disregard all of the skill that goes into art, and the time and study etc. -_- You'd think in this day and age art would be more recognized as an actual skill by now.

Problem with older generations is that they were somehow pulled to do something they didn't like by their parents but it brough them money and stabilization afterall so they could have a family, a house and everything in a way more "easy" how it is working nowadays. They won't look upon the sky and ask themselves if the world has changed anything, they just know being 18 they could go married, have children and their own home.
The situation with my parents is odd. My big brother did nothing profitable with his life so they don't come at me yelling why I don't stop drawing everyday. They just ask me when it is going to help me getting or how. That I could better study or get a job, but they are aware nothing of those is easy.

It is hard to me trust your dad watches nothing in your screen. I mean, my parents do watch and have some hope on me. They don't need to be rude with my artwork although I have no encourage words from them in years and can't consider myself better than you.

Oh my dad is like that too! But instead of saying that I do nothing he is always like "Do shading and light here here and here and try to draw fur more realistic" I just wanna tell him "GO DO IT YOURSELF! I DARE YOU? CAN YOU DO IT?! NO?! THEN DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO" I know he means good but it isn't encouraging coming from person who doesn't understand a thing about computer drawings :I

(he says im good at drawin i guess? Cant really remember last timeΒ he compliment any of my stuff..)

He prefer more realistic rather than my style

Um I have no style and yeah I feel like dads have hard time saying something good about art. Greatest I get if not the stuff I have to change is "It's fine" while mum is like "OH GUYS LOOK WHAT MY DAUGHTER DREW" xD such difference.
