That's why when someone asks me to teach them how to draw I only accept if I think they really want to, though I don't understand why they ask me since I'm not that good. But otherwise I have them draw something freehand and the with a ref in front of them. Then I give directions and tips. It's better to let them do most of it or they would't be able to follow.

I never had anybody to teach me or to encourage me to draw, and neither I draw that much myself. I try to push myself to do so though as much as I can.

I can see myself as the girl. I totally got bored as a younger child when my cousin tried teaching me how to draw. Maybe I should have payed more attention. My artwork is a bit... it needs work. T_T

Draw with passion, don't just look at other people's artwork and only think of the part when you're so good and people praise you, be satisfied with your current skills enough so that you would still continue until you've become as good as the ones you've admired. My best advice.

Pretty good advice. But it's not so much that I want to be praised by everyone else. It's more like I want to depict things accurately, more or less the way I imagined them. I guess if I continue on in my spare time it will happen.

That's the reason i want to hear, keep up your artistic spirit, it will lead you to your dreams, not a teacher, not a fan, but your passion

Looking at this, I can relate myself and recalled times when I actually taught my sister how to draw chibi for the first time. Since I was not good yet, I just ended up telling things I knew and soon, we gave up and went practicing by ourselves...yeah.

When I get asked to get taught to draw, my response is always the same "But I'm not a good teacher, so look up a tutorial or something."
In the end my friends either give up or just copy off of my style, looking at my drawings, and then trying to draw something the same.
Most of it isn't that good and has shaky lines, but it's annoying since a lot of times they actually start drawing like that and it's all copying off of me.

how many times i've been asked to teach ppl how to draw...they usually get distracted before i even get to it..... "your never going to learn that way you turkey meat!!" ;:l

I remember asking my brother how to draw and he responded with "It's something you can't teach, really, you just do it" and when people end up asking me, I'm just like "Uhh, you can't really explain it without being complicated..."

I guess most people think that simply showing them how to draw will magically give them drawing skills, as if it's somehow transferable. I've tried to show several friends my techniques but they gave up so quick XD
