Several of you have asked me if our cats have been allowed off the deck yet so this afternoon we decided to let Panya have her first day outside wandering the new property - well, one very small part of it.She almost made it around the house. Did very well, no major freakouts, but I bet her nose is tired! So much sniffing...

And now we can't keep her indoors! As the days have gotten shorter and light later in the morning, she's still yowling to be let out at 5am...there's creatures out there with big teeth at that time!!! I'm a bit concerned about how she's going to handle the winter "up" here - we moved from Southern California last April and rain down there meant maybe a day or two at a time with it only raining at night! Here in Northern CA it will be much longer and continuous...

I don't know about mouse but she's very interested in lizard! She's already caught two...but I think she's more interested in the 'chase' than in the consumption - she hasn't killed either one. We just hope she don't find a rattlesnake!
We didn't let her out for several weeks after we first moved and then took her out a few times with a harness and leash. Then it was out 'with supervision' for several days...until we were sure that she knew this was home. She'll go exploring and the coming running back up the hill like somethings scared her and flop down on the driveway - like the driveway is 'safe'!

I'm glad that your lovely cat is safe now. She'll get use to the place. And for the mouse think, my cat LOVED them. Maybe a bit too much... sometime she will bring to us some live gift (mouse!), you know what I mean? Si the poor little think will run all over the house looking for the door! Hiiiiii!

Our older cat, Tigerlily, was quite the rodent killer in her day...more gopher and mole parts were left on our porch than I care to remember, don't remember any mouse tails though. more recently it was lizard feet
Panya, as I've said, doesn't have the killing thing down... it took her awhile to realize that if she brought the birds or lizards into the house and we knew about it we'd take the critter away from her (she's got a belled collar on whenever she's allowed outside - I'd hear her come in and there was a very distictive rhythm to the jingles

Stands...as in still: HA! Especially on this day I had a really hard time staying up with her, let alone in front! She was sooo excited to be out smetling everything. she's calmed down a bit, but she still would rather be out than in...MEOWout...

we have a harness, leash and collar that we started her outside with, but she's free of all but the collar now

She is a really good addition to our family! And has my husband - a cat tolerator at best - wrapped around her little paw!!!

Down south she'd catch birds and lizards - not ALL died, we saved a fair amount and a few escaped - but she never ate them like our other cats did! Love finding the liver and a couple of feet and tail on the front porch
