messing with colors and sizesit has been...a long time since i have drawn bloodspill. maybe 4 years. I almost forgot how to draw her, and had to reference my old work. I didnt change her too much... she is totally the most unrealistic character that will be included in the new comic, but I think that will be alright since complete realism isnt a goal. She is my favorite character design I have ever made by far so the idea of changing her too much is a bit upsetting. Her old palette though that I had on character sheets was sooooo neon so that needed some work).
still dont know if im going to go with those markings on SKs back, so as usual, with these concepts, please assume all character work is temporary until i post a Final Character Design Sheet for him/her!
Edit: In the new story, relations between characters are not necessarily the same as they were in the old story (i.e. these 2 may or may not be siblings.) I am also going to be withholding posting much information when i post drawings of characters because I dont want to spoil anything!
Edit2: adjusted palette on bloodspill because i remembered my cintiq colors are super red

Swifty and Blood not sisters?
My, I'm gonna find it hard to get used to that, if you ever implement it in the story XD
But I guess it could actually be an interesting twist! That would definitely make the story significantly different, since in the first version, the biggest part of Swift and Blood's relationship was indeed based on the fact they were sisters. My, this is thrilling

Oh! I saw this before and after you made the color edit and I have to say that the red you chose for the second color of Bloodspill is one of my favorites. I absolutely love that with the golden tan underbelly color.

thanks! I have been having some color calibration issues with my monitor/cintiq so when im designing color palettes, its been a bit challenging.

Those marks were tattoos. I believe these are images of them when they were younger, so they might gain tattoos again but who knows what Kay will do this go around haha.

She might not even be doing anything with the Blackblood-verse anymore. It might be something totally new, just with some of the same characters. :3

Even though bloodspill is unrealistic, I am glad you didn't changer her too much, she is definitely a fan favorite β₯ I really like what you've done with SK's back markings too, very pretty! Surprised to hear that these two might not be siblings though, I really loved their interactions in the old comic.

Ah, yes, that is pretty much what I meant. She doesn't look like a natural wolf with her vibrant red coloration, spikey mohawk looking hair, etc. I remember several years back poor Kay would get a lot of heat for how "unrealistic" her characters were, but realistic characters were never the point or focus of BBA, and Blood's coloration goes well with the bold, straightforward and strong kind of character she is. So even if Bloodspill looks unnatural, I'm glad Kay didn't give in to the pressure and change her too much.

Her eye marks were actually her Blackblood tattoos, they just happened to be black as well.

Originally Bloodspill was Sang I believe, at least at one point, and Swift was Tach. But those were concepts from long ago, most of the Blackbloods in the original story didn't even have set birth names haha. So who knows now lol.

I think Swift's marking adds balance and grounding to her design that has the additional perk of contrasting well with the more explosive mood and design of Blood.

I wonder how Blood would look if her colors were matched a bit more to Swifts? Just an idea, to make them look more related. As always, I love these two to death, its awesome to see them back after so long and also awesome to see you making art again. Definitely missed you Kay!Β

I absolutely ADORE Swiftkills new design, and I think Bloodspill would benefit from some small changes? Like tone down the red a bit more, and put some markings on her back like Swift has. Or you know, just keep her as she is, it is your character afterall.

I always liked the designs of SwiftKill and BloodSpill. Though I do prefer more natural colored characters, and I think BS could be even more toned down, cuz there are plenty of natural red colored fur variations, I don't really mind her being colored in a vivid red, cuz you know, it looks cool
