Okay so another retcon. Vitani is no longer Kulas daughter, but Chumvi's... with Zira.

Chumvi and the other young males were allowed to stay in the Pride after they turned a year old as long as they showed that they were devoted to Scar. Tojo, Mtoto, and Mheetu left, as they couldn't pledge loyalty to such a terrible lion. Chumvi was going to go with them.. but he confessed his love to Tojo and was rejected, so to save face he pretended to be loyal to Scar so that he could stay.

Zira and Scar were having trouble conceiving. Zira, in her despair, groomed Chumvi and convinced him to help their King have an heir. No one would know about this except for the two of them. Chumvi had no choice. Either mate with Zira, or be outed as a non-supporter of Scar and get exiled.

He made his choice, but he was emotionally scarred from the experience.

To this day, Chumvi knows who his children are but can't bare to face them because of his shame. Chumvi thinks Kovu is his because of his dark coat, but his actual son was stillborn and Zira stole Kovu from the deceased Kula.
