Description Something that... bothers? me is that when I plan to buy an adopt, the owner start to throw a bunch of rules, don't do this, don't do that, don't resell. No offense intended to those who sell adopts, but I feel you are losing the point of SELLING
You are giving them for a price (be it low, be it high) but in the end, you are supposed to give them, if someone else plans to take advantage of it by reselling them (thing that I don't find it nice to do, In My Opinion) then you must accept it's their choice
If someone plans to use the character(s) for a Hentai comic, you like it or not, you should accept that
Else, you better just call it a rent or something within those lines

Please, can someone explain me what is an "adopt"?

Pretty much is some sort of "game" (From my point of view at least)
An adopt is a character design that is sold/given from one artist to another so that the buyer can use his/her/it in his/her stories/comics/art/etc.

Gracias. Olvide que hablas espaΓ±ol jaja. Literalmente uno vende un dibujo (digase personaje u objeto) que es como una posesion real a otra persona (usualmente un artista). Como cuando Marvel vendio derechos de personajes a otras empresas.

At the end of the day, if you BUY an adopt it's YOURS to do whatever you want, otherwise it's like you're sharing the adopt while it's only yours....

I agree. I can't give you an opinion because the opinions expressed here
have already been explained for me.

I never have understood the whole concept of "adoptables," Β since they're evidently just character designs available for purchase. Β And I think you're quite right, that once sold they are rightly out of the control of the seller. Β Even if they do have conditions of use, how would they enforce them? Β Pointless.

I personally see it as some sort of game
There is no legal contract or copyright that really tells that character is yours, so, pretty much it lacks a real seriousness

I guess some people don't want their oc to be brought by some psycho rich guy loving to just kill the oc he or she adopt. I guess they grow too attached to the adoptable even if their purpose is well being adopted, but I understand it is weird to sell character and set enormous amount of rules for them

Kaztle In reply to Foxpower93 [2014-07-30 03:05:20 +0000 UTC]

I understand that as well, But they must accept that what does the new owner does it's not of their business
It's OK to ask for those things, but they can't really enforce them

Foxpower93 In reply to Kaztle [2014-07-30 03:29:54 +0000 UTC]

that is really true if someone concede to sell a character they shall not be picky about what the new owner will do with it. If they believe it would dirty their reputation or emotionally harm them they shouldn't sell the character at the first place... anyway I never truly understood the concept of adoptable and never truly like it

so did you end up buying the adopts anyways or you just didn't want to anymore? your right it makes no sense to del things but you still have a right to claim them:/

Kaztle In reply to FantasyRebirth96 [2014-07-30 02:35:07 +0000 UTC]

I still buy the adopts, if I see any hentai-related rule I tend to inform the owner before buying them
I don't plan to resell my adopts, but still it's something that bothers me that adopts have those rules

I know I just realized though:

i find the rules you use for the adoptables are fair, crediting the original creator is always nice...

Kaztle In reply to PrincessSkyler [2014-07-30 02:33:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, you could just ask to avoid those things rather than put them as rules

I'm doing that for now on.

I know! When someone wants to sell an adoptable, they need to realize you can do whatever you want with them. You paid for that right. And they have to accept that. Or don't offer them to be adopted!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaztle In reply to Whyita [2014-07-30 03:19:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know it may be annoying that someone may get angry for seeing their design sold in a better price from someone else

KazeSolarFlare [2014-07-30 02:03:23 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. When people buy adopts, they are their's to keep and do whatever they want with them. Not to mention the No Reselling rule makes it seem like once you've bought an adopt, it's perminately stuck with you forever until you've decided to hand that character down for free. That'll be like if you buy a figure and they tell you not to modify them or sell them if you decided you don't want them, but they make it seem you can't. It's dumb to the point where you're only paying for what you got, and they give you no authority to change the character's design a little to your liking. That's the point in selling your product: they buy your stuff, you should be happy with your money while it's their's to do whatever they want with them.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaztle In reply to KazeSolarFlare [2014-07-30 03:18:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, in the end it's just a design, You really don't have a lawful ownership over the character (As far as I'm aware of), so, it's pretty much some sort of game

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KazeSolarFlare In reply to Kaztle [2014-07-30 03:26:11 +0000 UTC]

I'm guessing why they're so lawful about it is because they're afraid that all their hard work on their design, which they liked, might either be totaled or slightly altered by the buyer. That could've been a point if they weren't adoptable, but since they're just selling designs for money they're pretty much out of the artists' jurisdiction once they're sold.Β
