WHEN CREATING YOUR FLASH FILE, ALWAYS CHOOSE ACTIONSCRIPT 2.0 NOT THE SYSTEM DEFAULT WHICH IS 3.0I'm sorry, comments have been disabled D=
I really just don't have the time to answer everyones questions, I get so many everyday, and 90% of them are already answered in the tutorial. Sorry to anyone who needs help, maybe when I have some free time I'll enable comments again.

Okay, well so many people asked me how I made my Create A Wolf- [link]
So I decided to make a tutorial ^^
I SUGGEST YOU START WITH THE GO-TO BUTTON TUTORIAL BEFORE THE CLICK & APPEAR
I’m so sorry about my rambling. I’ve tried to make this tutorial so even beginners at Flash =may= find it useful. But it really would help if you know some of the basics about Flash before you attempt this. Also, I have to stress, I SUCK at explaining things without being there in person.. so since that’s impossible, this is the best you’re gonna get xP
Only for people who have Flash. You can download a free trial on the website though (I think).

actionscript for go-to buttons here for lazy people:
on (release) {
gotoAndPlay(NUMBER);
}

GAWD, THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS! Seriously, I was completely LOST until I read this. It helped out SO much!
Have you considered making one on how to make "click-n-drag" dressups? That'd be really helpful, and since you were so good at making this one, I think it'd help a LOT! ^^

Yeah thing is there's already so many tutorials on dA for click & drag games, it'd be pointless for me to make one. There wasn't any (that I could find) for click & appear, so it seemed to make sense that I made one. if you're interested in click & drag, search dA for 'dress up tutorial' and I'm sure you'll find one ^^

How did you made the "drag and drop" part in your games?How you make that only the chosen part stays on the next frames?

the drag and drop isn't part of this tutorial, but if you search on dA for 'dress up tutorial' there are plenty of tutorials made by other people you can look at.
and I'm not too sure what you mean by that last part..?

You probably haven't typed out the code right. Check over it with mine, and download the example flash files- there's a link in the description.

ummm.. What if you want one button to bring out like a bunch of shirts,
not just a button for each shirt.
Is that possible?

KCoyote In reply to cutiepiecaitlin [2008-07-31 10:27:56 +0000 UTC]
uhh.. I'm a little unsure of what you mean.. but if it's the way I do it.. if I had one button bring out all the shirts it wouldnt work because they'd all be piled on top of eachother. Unless you mean a button to go to a frame to show all the buttons for the shirts, in which case this tutorial explains that, just check the example files ^^

do I put the buttons all on one frame? And, I'm really confused on the actionscript part.

KCoyote In reply to Cuckooberry [2008-07-27 13:45:36 +0000 UTC]
You can put all the buttons on the same layer and/or same frame. Just make sure you give each one the right coding. The actionscript can be applied by right-clicking a button and going to 'actions'

Make sure your Flash file is set to Actionscript 2 and not 3. You can check that by going to 'ublish settings'

Love this SO much.. it really helped!!! But...
I have a question ^ ^;;
well in my game it's like making an animal, and you can like select the color, and different parts of it's body, eg tail, eyes etc.But i'm not sure how to make what you've selected stay on screen when you move onto the next section.
I'm so lost D:
Help would be greatly appreciated :] And if i ever get it working, i promise you'll have a mention XD

Make sure the frame with the items (colours, tails, clothes, etc..) is stretched as far as the Flash file goes. Eg; mine usually stop at around 35 frames. Also make sure it doesnt create a new keyframe at the end

I'm not sure what 'best buy' is, but you can buy it at most computer stores and such. It's a fairly common program
