Gravvum couldn't take it anymore. His father scared him, and even as a colt- he didn't want to live in fear.

"Dad!" he finally shouted, spinning around to face Tidus, "Please stop! If you're going to leave me and momma, just leave! Why do you keep coming back?!"

Kluke gasped at his sudden boldness. She always made sure he knew not to speak to his father. What was he doing?! She threw head up and spun it around to see behind. "Gravvum!"

By this time, Tidus had paused in contemplation, flicking auds forward and back. "Shut up!" he snapped at Kluke, baring teeth. Turning attention to his son, the stallion lowered crainu, and moved closer to him. "You're a bold thing." the stud snarled, pushing his foal back a step. "Gravvum- look at your front legs."

The colt peered down at his chained, black markings. "...yes?" he quizzed, "They've always been like this."

"Colt, look at my markings. All the black, it's the same as yours. If you break those chains, that black will consume your body. I'm here to make sure your mother keeps you safe. I come to make sure your chains are still intact."

"You're here to protect me?" Gravvum quizzed, suddenly taken back by his fathers words. "What happens to me if they break?"

"You'll die." Tidus replied, pinning ears tight against crainua.

"Die?!" Gravvum squealed. "How will I die?!"

Raising brow, the large stallion drew stare to Kluke whose eyes were wide with fear. "The blackness will consume your body, and possess your soul. You will be forced to serve a darker being for the rest of your short life."

"That wont kill me though."

"No, son. I will eliminate you long before it can.

Gravvum was horrified. "You'll KILL me?! Dad, please, just leave me! I promise they wont break! You don't have to worry about anything. I promise!"

"I'm not taking any chances."
