Hi all

This is my interpretation of what it is like to live in the UK just now. I'm not getting political, just capturing a feeling. Whichever way people voted, it's hard not to feel the anxiety, the moment when your mind drifts and your heart sinks. But life goes on all around you, and the sun still shines.

Sorry, a bit gloomy Here's the technical stuff. The model is Cailin, the bench, phone box, phone, tree etc are all props from various sets. 1 HDRI and 1 distant light.

The pigeons were added in post from stock, then blurred for DoF. The whole image has been colour balanced.

Hope you like, thanks for looking

You nailed the feeling very well, for sure.
Avoiding political details, the lives of many are hanging in the uncertainty.
And the air we are breathing is getting heavier and heavier.

It is indeed, but hopefully things get better. As long as the good people stick together.

The people...humans...that concerns me the most.
Greed is what we all worship the most, more or less...

She definitely seems anxious. Like that moment when you freeze your eyes, defocus them and stare into space, letting your thought paint whatever in front of them. When you feel like you're afraid to let your feelings take you over, because you know how much fear is propped up in your subconscious.Β

Very emotional. I'm afraid it's not just UK who feels anxious about the future.

Yeah, you got it in one It does feel like the world is needing to get a grip of itself. We'll get there, it just takes a little hard work and an open mind

I truly hope so. For the moment it's just plain scary.Β

Great work here! You caught the mood well

I'm also feeling calmer about things now, a week on. In some ways the system does need a bit of a reboot, but to do a good job requires some calm and inclusive thinking, which are often in very short supply.

It's been a couple of weeks now and things do feel calmer for sure. As long as the right people get on board and steer true and steady we'll get there.

Thanks for the kind comments

I hear this.

That said, I am feeling a lot more positive about things now. I have a lot of hope that somehow things will come right, or at least not go quite as wrong as we fear. I hope you are feeling better with each day, too, and the sun is shining on you. It is hidden behind clouds here, but hopefully it will put in another appearance later...

Thank you very much. I do feel as though things will come right eventually. Maybe this is what is needed to bring people together and galvanise a nation, and not just ours. Sometimes you have to weather the storm before reaching calmer waters Oh, and the sun did come out, it was nice

Yes, exactly. If we can ultimately have a better Europeβ€”a better worldβ€”then it is worth some discomfort and uncertainty in the short-term. We have seen some positive coming-together of people in the past week... some not so positive... but I hope we are moving in the right direction. Albeit at a shuffling pace. And with some alarming detours.

Glad you got some sunshine. We did, too, though it is a distant memory now.

So sorry for all that everyone is going through over there...I can't even imagine. Β I think what I love most about this is how you captured a photographic feel of a moment in time and adding the pigeons put it in that place...a symbol of peace? Β The body language and distant expression of the model (hey someone ignoring their phone for onece) helps lend that feeling you wanted to capture. Β Fabulously created Neil.Β

Thank you Mel, I really appreciate your feedback. Yeah, you hit the nail on the head about trying to capture a moment in time. The goal was to show the image in a reportage style. The pigeons help to do this, but not so much a symbol of peace but a symbol of London (they are everywhere in that city!). But the dust is starting to settle now and we have a long journey ahead, we just need to make sure we pull together as a country. Next picture will be all robot's n stuff though

You are so welcome Neil. Yes, reportage syle! Journalism Photography. Β haha, pigeons everywhere I'm sure you are not as in love with them as some are....I've seen pictures of thousand of them flocking to london squares...crazy! heh Β  All joking aside I hope some resolution is found soon and that the future will remain bright.

Great job on those pigeons! Very nice framing! My solution to the gloom is to focus on what makes one feel refreshed and alive. And if it's making your friends feel fresh and alive, it's even better. Art is a great way to do that!

For sure. Art is certainly for me the best way to express yourself. Your solution is spot on to, it's amazing how resilient people are. Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it

No problem. Hopefully we can get more people using art for just that purpose.
