Description Daz3D / Photoshop

Hey all

It's been a while since I've done anything in Daz, quite a lot of work on which gets in the way (grrrr).

But I have managed to get this one in The model is the great Aiko 7, with Greymalkin in the background. The city is Cyberpunk City. One night HDRI with various spotlights positioned around. I wanted to keep it vibrant, like a Manga cartoon.

The electricity and other highlights were added in post, then balanced.

Thanks for looking

Nice - although it took me a minute to see the Robot with the very tight crop.

Thanks for the feedback John, I really appreciate it. I was hoping to emulate a page from a comic, but in doing so the crop looks to tight. Sometimes its easy to look past an issue, especially when you play the scene out in your head and forget no one else can see it! (hope that made sense). I'll certainly consider that going forward Β

Cropping is one of those things, in my opinion, where there is no right answer, and you can always find someone who will disagree. I used to participate in a photography critique group on Flickr, and cropping always created lots of argument.Β  So now I tend to do the crop that I want and not worry about what others will see. It's like the rule of thirds; it creates a 'good' image but when everyone uses it, the images look the same. So sometimes it's fine to crop a foot or similar.

Still a great image, irrespective of this issue

A bit too bright for my taste (there seems to be too many light points and reflections, my eyes start spinning not knowing where to look) but the composition is very well done. I like how at this angle you see both the girl in full glory and the robot behind her. The contrast between the characters, one youthful and energetic, the other one calm and wise, is very matching.

This is great feedback, thank you. The lighting is probably a little over cooked, but I was hoping to catch the vibrancy of Japanese street lighting. I'll certainly keep it in mind for the next image (always learning ). The contrast was deliberate so the robot mostly surrounds the girl to give her some framing from the background, but I like your description better

You're very welcome. I definitely see what you were trying to achieve, just came out a bit too bright. I'm sure you can fix it easily next time.

And that's an interesting trick to use the robot as a back-light shield. I should try to use it sometimes as well.Β

Very cool composition and the postwork really finishes it perfectly.

I'm such an idjit. Β Here I was just typing about you hurrying up with an image and lo and behold here it is!!! Damn you are quick. lol Β All work and no play keeps Neil at bay...no fun. Β However this image is lots of fun! Great dynamic posing and I do love whole manga vibrance to it and nice touch with the crackling lighting around the weapon. Can't wait for you to do more. Β

Ha ha, not at all I cheated a bit and put the status up after I had already started the image, but don't tell anyone Your right, all work and no play is making Neil a dull boy. I wish I could do this kind of illustrating as a living, but alas no. I'm a graphic designer so I can't complain, I still get to do art in some form or another.Β

Thanks for the comments though, I really appreciate the feedback I keep a little sketchbook with me at all times which is full of ideas, so there will be plenty more to come. I have to keep up with yourself to

I see how you are! haha Β At least you are creating Neil...maybe not in the way you want but creation is life and I envy you. Β I need to do the same by keeping a sketchbook with me at all times that way if I wake up from a dream with an idea, I won't forget it which happens to often. ha
