Description
A World War II Japanese A6M5 Zero Model 52. It is at the Yaukuni War Museum in Tokyo Japan.Built by Mitsubishi at its Ohe factory in Nagoya, and completed November 25, 1943. Parts from A6M5 4241 were used in the main body of the aircraft, revealing the frantic production pace when the plane was built, while the main dataplate and stamps were those of 4240.
Served in Rabaul. After the war, it was abandoned at its former airstrip. The main wing and fuselage were recovered from Rabaul in 1974. Parts from other Zeros wrecks from Yap Island were used to restore this aircraft to static display. The project took 20 years of restoration (1980-2000) by Nobuo Harada.

Fantastic, love it. I'm a crew chief on F-16s so I got a thing for old planes. Even collect little die casts of em. Great photo.
Heh, we actually have a 16 with the tail number 161 here at Luke.

I wish I more opportunity take photos of aircraft but I can't seem to find many here in Tokyo, except for civilian aircraft.
