I haven't posted anything for a few days, so here's one of a female Rufous Hummingbird trying to figure out how to get a hollyhock to unfurl and deliver the goodies.Related content

So beautiful !Β They like Hollyhocks don't they? My mom had a garden full of them and the hummers loved them.Β

They seem to like the hollyhocks...I have quite a few, although they are not blooming this year as profusely as they have in the past.Β The butterfly bushes, which they also like were duds this year. I planted some Mexican Sage and Hummingbird Bush which they seem to like...the Hummingbird Bush is like having an extra feeder.

Cool, I did not know that about Hummingbird Bush.Β I wonder why they didn't bloom as well?Β Weather changes?

I mis-spoke: the hummingbird bush is blooming just fine...it appears to be quite healthy.Β And since the "monsoons" brought daily showers, the hollyhocks have started to revive as well.Β The butterfly bushes are still sulking...I doubt I'll see any decent blossoms before next Spring.

I always forget that people get "monsoons in that part of the country.Β And yes those lovely green lives are so dependent on that.
