Description
This morning I found two newly hatched Black Swallowtail Butterflies in the terrarium...one was a complete surprise since it came out of a brown pupa (instead of lime green) and I was told that a brown pupa wouldn't hatch til the following Spring.Related content

I still have six enormous caterpillars (with appetites to match) in the terrarium. I had to go to Ace to buy more parsley plants which, as I discovered, came with two more caterpillars. That's always a good sign: it means they don't douse their plants in poisons to get rid of the bugs

OH, that is a good thing. Have you seen the lawsuit action against "Roundup" yet? What a mess! If people were wise they could plant their gardens in such a way to ward off bugs, by planting certain types of plants next to others. Anyway, down off the soapbox! I hope to see more of your butterflies then!

Glyphosate needs to go the way of DDT before we all start growing extra eyes and feet. Ducks and geese and do the weeding (and fertilizing)! I just hope these caterpillars pupate before Silver City runs out of parsley!

It is criminal! We are such an arrogant species and some day we will pay for it. We can't escape our nature. We are, as my former Marine brother in law used to say, "crapping in our own mess kit", thought I would give the nice version of it. But you know what I mean. We should be stewards of the earth, not those who rape and ruin it.

You're preaching to the choir here! We need to think long and hard about our economic system as well...Profit above all else is a recipe for Armageddon.

Well, it was a bit before my political awareness but I believe President Eisenhower's exit speech sort of said it all. I think we are doomed and have been and that it is only a matter of time before it bites us in the butt, or rather decapitates us. Those in power will never relinquish that power/money.

I think of greed as a form of psychosis...that our whole economy is based on it might also be a form of psychosis.

Oh, I never thought of it that way. Hmm. Very interesting concept.

Let's just say the system needs some judicious tinkering!

Это большие бабочки. Я обнаружил, что лучший способ получить их хорошие фотографии - это поднять их с гусениц, чтобы я мог позировать им, пока их крылья находятся в идеальной форме, и они все еще страдают от долгого сна в своих куколках.

The two of them just finished drying their wings and flew off...I hope they achieve great things!
