Description
When I lived in Santa Fe, I built an elaborate three level birdbath/fountain and added a stone hedgehog as a finishing touch. One of the local hawks used to regularly come around and spend a half hour just standing in the basin...I think the poor guy had sore feet.Related content

He loved soaking his feet...he would just stand there for almost an hour. I think he had sore feet.

I've never seen a predator bird in my yard, and with the # of doves I have at the water you'd think one or two would stay around for an easy

There was a pair of hawks that nested down the street from us. They would produce a couple of kids every year and bring them by our house to show them where to catch pigeons. I think this one was one of the adults...he was a regular visitor and over the years had learned that I was pretty harmless.

The birds seem more attracted to a birdbath if it has running water.

Not here...most are just shallow bowls to hold water...basically a water dish that the birds can use for their baths without fear of drowning.
