Description
From April, 2015 when I lived in Santa Fe. Every evening around 5 this solitary female bushtit would appear at the living room window and spend several minutes tapping her beak on the glass. She would only come to this part of the window and she always showed up the same time every night. I never did figure out what had attracted her interest: her reflection? Something inside that she wanted to investigate? Eventually she quit showing up, leaving behind this mystery.Related content

I never did figure out why she kept showing up. That was up in Santa Fe...I hope she is still doing well.

I don't know. Maybe she saw her reflection like you mentioned and thought she was going to attack that other bird. She was a pretty little thing though.

They are actually quite brave and can be persuaded to eat peanut butter (which they love) out of a hand-held spoon.

I never gave much thought to whether a bird would like peanut butter or not. Interesting.

It is a good, however expensive, substitute for suet.

And tiny, no bigger than my thumb. These birds, with a little patience, get quite friendly and will take food from your hand.

I don´t know if they live in my city also. Soon I will move into a house and I will make that birdbath and some tree houses for birds . Maybe this winter I won´t be so lucky, but this spring sure I will. I hope we won´t have only common city birds around.

It takes time for the country birds to discover where food and water and safety can be found. It might take a few years to get a really interesting group of birds to start coming to your house.

Ay, I won´t move to the country, dear Keith. I cannot afford yet. I found a house with two levels and a very huge balcony at the last floor (almost 6 m per 7 m) and a small yard in the back. I saw it and I loved it. It is in the city I live now, but in a very peaceful area with more houses around. At least is not very crowded like in the heart of the city. I will move starting with 1 December. I hope, since it is an area with many trees and alleys, to enjoy there.

Yes. I am very excited too! It is very hard to find house in my city. I look for one since last year.

Cities are like that. When I had to find a house I ended up in a village because I could not find an affordable house even in small towns! I had to find a place fast and this house was the best I could find in a hurry!

Turned out your heart place? Do you regret? I dream since long to move into the country, but several reasons keep me in the city.

I like the place...it is old and has the problems of an old house, but it has turned out to be a good place to live.

Any house has its problems. But if you like there it is a home. And you have many visitors! This is the best part of a house. We may see some green around, some life, some beautiful sunrises, sunsets.

Also, if even this village starts to feel too crowded I am very close to complete wilderness.

Ay, this is cool! You are blessed! I would be afraid to live into wilderness, but I would live into a country side happily!

It is part of the National Forests. A lot of the land around here is protected.

We have protected national parks in Spain. I do not know if we also have protected forests. But I know, in the south area, inside the national parks, it is not permitted to build new houses.
