Description
This is just a comment I left on a Pro-Life page on Facebook.
I needed to create something to represent my feelings on the matter. So, here it is. (:
"I used to consider myself Pro-Life, but someone I had a conversation with convinced me to become Pro-Choice. I could never choose to abort a child, but many don't understand the cases in which some people have abortions. If someone is raped, a high percentage of impregnated Mother's choose abortion.
Ask yourself:
Could you deal with carrying a rapist's child for 9 months? And when people ask you who the Father was, what would you say? When the child grew up - regardless of whether you chose to give it up for adoption - how would you or the parent tell your child he/she was the result of an evil man?
Another option a significant amount of impregnated rape-victims choose suicide.
Another point to look at is what if the child would cause death to their Mother? Should an unhealthy woman be forced to give their life for a child they will never be able to hold?
If a child was to be born paralyzed, or brain-damaged, or have some sort of health issue that would leave their life to be nothing but lying in a bed with no chance of experiencing life - would that be fair?
On the other side of this, there are women out there who have abortions so frequently it is disgusting. All because they couldn't take mere seconds out of their 'pleasure' to slip on a condom or take the necessary precautions to avoid pregnancy to begin with. Those women don't deserve the right, but they have to live with themselves.
Do any of you realize if abortion is abolished completely, those who deserve the choice won't be allowed the choice.
Why should anyone's choices be decided by the government? I would never consider abortion, but that is MY opinion - MY OWN OPINION that I CHOOSE and NO ONE else chose for me."

Since the text is the most important part of this image, I'll cover that first. "Info-graphics," or really any image using text to make a statement, often challenge us because we're expected to provide a succinct but meaningful argument. You're limited for words, and yet still challenged to make a high impact. You did a splendid job here of choosing your words wisely and carefully, to deliver a very clear, very distinguishable message.
Text size also adds an important element to this piece. "Pro choice" and "abortion" are the largest visible terms. This use of fairly ambiguous buzz-words is excellent for quickly drawing attention to your work; instantly any potential viewer stops to look at it. Is this piece speaking for or against abortion? Is it condemning or praising those who consider themselves pro choice? In thumbnail form, all we see are these key words; therefore, no matter what stance a person takes, they are instantly drawn in and want to know more. In short, excellent use of font size to bring attention to your statement.
There are really only two small errors that I can think to point out. The first is merely in the opacity of the background. The floral pattern to the right hand side of the image is very nearly the same color as the text. This distracts the viewer from the text itself; a paler background would serve better to amplify the effect of the words rather than to diminish it, by setting them apart from their surroundings.
The second piece of criticism is a small detail about font choice. The font you used for the smaller text has very separated capital letters. This is only noticeable when something, such as the words "ALL FOR" are written entirely in capitals. The increased spacing is slightly distracting and creates mild aesthetic discord. A font with more unified capital letters would better serve your purposes here.
Overall, truly excellent work with a truly excellent message. This is a graphic that I expect you should be proud of; I certainly would be.

It's no problem! I liked the piece and felt that I had some helpful things to say. I hope that the tips are actually usable and something you'll be able to apply to future work.

This is a great little poster thing. It delivers the message really well. It goes to show how just because you are pro-choice doesn't mean you want to abort every baby, it shows you have respect for a woman's choice and her decisions and that you don't have to birth a kid if you cannot handle it. I think that is really shameful that in this society that fetus are valued more than a woman's right to choose. Abortion, adoption or keeping it. I think the choices should be stressed because not all women can afford the baby and this poster shows it well and is not too rude about it. Nice work.

54% of women who get abortions use some form of birth control. [link] Just saying. But then again, "some form of birth control inculdes withdrawl, so . And, birth control is the most effective when more than one form is used, such as condoms AND pills. Or better yet, condoms, pills, AND pulling out.

My Mother was on birth control when she became pregnant with my youngest sister. Nothing in this world is 100%.
That entire paragraph was solely based upon the group of women who don't care at all and are too lazy to practice other methods of birth control. (:

No it isn't. Also, I neglected to mention that these people don't use birth control consistently.
Just women? I think men should be responsible and make sure they're using condoms too. It's the woman's job to make sure she's taking her pill consistently at the same time of day every day. And if she forgets, either the man she sleeps with or someone else close to her should remind her.

If pregnancy is unwanted, there should be a condom on his penis! But, some guys don't think they should have to because they're not the ones who host a child.
There are people who care, people who care very little, and people who don't care at all - plus all those in between. Sadly, I know some people who have had at least 5 abortions in the last year alone.

"If pregnancy is unwanted, there should be a condom on his penis!"
Agreed.
"But, some guys don't think they should have to because they're not the ones who host a child."
Those men do not deserve the honor of having sex with their partner. Unfortunately, men like these still get laid.

Well, technically abortion is birth control. In the context you used it though...
It's actually infeasible to use abortion as a reoccurring source of birth control. One abortion can cover a years worth of birth control pills. It's also a very painful and uncomfortable procedure. It would be like having an IUD put in every time you get pregnant and then removed 10 minutes later.
Reoccurring abortions are just evidence we've failed *women. We've failed to give them affordable and easy access to birth control, we've failed to educate them about pregnancy prevention, and we've failed to give them resources that would make raising a child easier.
*Not just women, people with uteri as well.

I would never consider abortion as an option - but that is my personal opinion.
I live in the United States and laws are being thrown around trying to ban ALL birth control. They're talking about closing down planned parenthood, teaching only abstinence in schools, and all of these other disgusting ideas. If they pass anything that gives the government control over my body, I am SO out of here! ):

That's what I was about to say. I don't think women generally have an abortion fetish.

You say that, but then you go on to say no one's decision should be decided by the government or your opinion. I hate those types of women too, but absolutely no one has any right to make them carry a child they don't want. Even if they're horrible people who use abortion as birth control.
Also; I like how you said abortion was a "right". I believe it is and always should be, but you can't take it away from one group of women and let this other group have it. Rights don't work that way.
