I love TMP and I love Kirk and Spock! I came into the fandom just enjoying ST first but K/S then blew me away. This is my favorite fandom to be a part of. Trekkie for life!
And yes! They are so canon. It's not even an argument! Considering the evidence, it's pretty much one sided. We win. ^^

My theory is that people who do not see K/S only don't see because they choose not to due to personal preferences or biases, or just didn't know the full story and are now too stubborn to change their minds (either that or they just don't care either way). I have never come across another type of anti-K/S-er.
I mean, they (Vulcan) kiss regularly, Spock refers to Kirk as his lover ("t'hy'la," TMP novelisation) and even Gene Roddenberry said they are in love and probably had a sexual relationship (which in itself doesn't completely confirm, but the fact that he bothered bring the sexual relationship up does confirm that he knows of K/S and encourages it).
