Story Time!

Frankie and Lady were carefully trudging their way through the island cave. “Ew, my feet are getting wet.” Frankie complained. Lady patted Frankie’s shoulder sympathetically.

Their path led them to a slightly more open area. There, in the middle, was a wooden totem with three more bands on display, including one of the purple ones Frankie sought. “Finally.” She sighed.

The duo stepped in the room – and were startled to see a young female trainer in a bathing suit approaching the same display through another entrance. She had a Meowth riding on her head, Frankie noticed, and it appeared to be wearing…water wings? That was a new one.

“Oh!” the girl cried, startled. “Hey…you’re Frankie, aren’t you? I’ve seen you at the Crystal Conference. I’ve really enjoyed your performances!”

Frankie, feeling slightly awkward without a performance planned, was elated by this news. “You have?!? I mean, uh, of course you have! Thank you!”

The girl continued, “My name is Vron; I suppose we’re here for the same reason. Are you going for the purple bands as well?”

Frankie frowned. “Yeah…”

“Oh. Well…I guess we should battle for it. Only fair, right?”

Frankie examined the girl. She looked a little shy, and not particularly strong. Battling was hardly Frankie’s expertise, but she could probably take this girl on, especially if she was planning to battle with that rather sulky looking Meowth. “But of course!” Frankie said confidently. “But I warn you, you will be shocked and amazed by Fantastical Frankie’s FAAAAAAAABULOUS FANDANGO!”

The girl laughed. “Wow, this is going to be so awesome. Okay, let’s go Hydra!” She retrieved a pokeball and summoned a Dragonair.

Frankie was taken aback, she wasn’t expecting a dragon type. “Ummm, okay! Let’s go Lady!” she cried as she racked her brain. Dragons were weak against Ice, right? Or was it Water? No, she was pretty sure it was Ice. She really needed to review her type weaknesses…but at least she had a type advantage. Hopefully. “Lady, use Blizzard!”

The Dragonair flew through the air and gracefully dodged the Ice attack. “Good job Hydra! Now, use Flamethrower!”

“Ack!” Frankie cried as the attack landed. Fire on Ice was one weakness that she could remember.

Lady, though a little singed, seemed all right after the attack, but it was hard to say how much more of that she could take. Frankie wasn’t sure if she could even beat this girl, she had already proven herself to be much tougher than she looked. But she couldn’t bring herself to give up the band…which left only one choice. “Lady, I think it’s time for plan E!” The Froslass glanced back in surprise. “Yes, I’m sure,” Frankie called. “Use Hail!”

Even inside the cave, Lady summoned a thick snowstorm. Lady’s Snow Cloak ability caused her and Frankie to vanish from the opponents eyes. Just as planned.

Vron shivered and squinted through the snow. “Can you see them Hydra?” she called out. The Dragonair glanced around the room and shook its head slowly. “Okay, stay alert!”

Vron waited for another attack to come from the Froslass, so they could get an idea of where she was. But there came nothing.

“What are you up to Frankie?” Vron murmured. On her head, Cy hissed, irritated with the falling snow. “I know, I know.” An idea struck her. “Hydra, use your Flamethrower to try and clear up this storm a bit!”

The flame offered a little bit of visibility at least. And whether due to the time or the flame, the storm was starting to wear down. But Frankie and her Froslass were still nowhere to be seen. “Where did they…” Vron glanced at the wooden totem and saw the purple band was missing. “Oh no,” she sighed.

In the bands place was a piece of paper. Vron picked it up; it was one of Frankie’s advertisements. Vron chuckled. Leave it to Frankie to manage to advertise, even while fleeing. On the back was barely legible writing that appeared to have been scrawled very quickly: “Sorry! Better luck next time!”

By this time, Frankie and Lady were already exiting the cave. “It always pays to have an escape plan.” Frankie said with a grin.

To make a long story short (too late): Frankie and Vron meet in one of the island caves. Vron and Frankie agree to battle for a band they find. Frankie realizes she can't win, so she nicks the band and legs it under the shelter of Lady's Snow Cloak.

This time featuring 's pokemon trainer Vron. And yes, the shadow in the upper right corner is Frankie and Lady fleeing the scene with the wrist band they both need. Sorry Vron, no battle for you. XD While Frankie may be smart and talented in many areas, actual battling remains not a strong point of hers.

The orange things that Cy the Meowth is wearing are water wings. *Cold-Creature said she wanted to design a life jacket for him to wear this round; I decided to opt for a pair of water wings. XD

Also, drawing a girl in a bikini has made me realize just how much I fail at anatomy.
