Part 1
Part 2 (HERE)
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5

Three trainers parted from the rest of the group, approaching the main gates while the remaining group hid nearby.

Frankie turned to her two new partners: Ollie, who had the Quilava with Smokescreen, and Kotori, the ghost type trainer whose pokemon were perfect for the effects she had in mind.

“You sure you’ve got the plan?” Frankie asked the pair. “Timing and precision are EVERYTHING for this to work!”

“No problem.” Kotori said with a smile. “I just stay in the background and wait for my cue.”

“And Noodle’s agreed to behave himself.” Ollie said. “I think we’re as ready as we’ll ever be!”

The three of them made their way to the main entrance, where two standing post guards waited for them. Their expressions had been bored but they straightened up once they spotted the approaching trainers.

Frankie made a quick study of them. Not too intelligent, she decided with some relief. Skepticism wouldn’t be ideal trait for the heist they were about to do. They wore black: black turtlenecks, black slacks, black berets. At their sides they had a belt with many pokeballs, probably where most of their might came from.

Hopefully, she wasn’t about to meet these pokemon.

“Hello, and good day to you sirs!” Frankie proclaimed to the guards, with the easy  yet confident air of her profession. “I was wondering if you gentlemen might do us a favor. My partners here and I have come up with a great new idea for our show—FantasticalFrankie’sFabulousFandango, here’saflier—but we need an audience to test it on. Would you mind being our audience for a practice run of our latest act?”

The guards looked at the beaming Frankie in her top hat, to the more bashful Ollie in her pirate-inspired outfit and the quietly smiling Kotori, and back down to the flier that had just been thrust into their hands.

One guard looked to the other and shrugged. “I dunno. Seems legit.”

“Fine. Let’s see what you got.” The other said to Frankie.

“All right!” Frankie cried, “Prepare for a performance of FANTASTICAL proportions! Ollie, set the stage please!”

“Come on Noodle!” Ollie encouraged her Quilava. “Smokescreen!”

Frankie had encouraged the pair to add flair to their part, and while Ollie didn’t quite measure up to Frankie’s more extravagant standards, she had to admit that the little twirl the pair did as they covered the area in smoke was completely adorable.

“Hey, what is this?” One of the guards protested.

“All part of the act, I assure you!” Frankie assured them. “Setting the mood. For you see, gentlemen, I’m about to tell you a story.” Frankie’s voice lowered dramatically. “A ghost story.”

She leaned close to the pair and began her tale.

“A couple weeks ago I was in the Jubilee tournament, we were given the task to explore the Bonnet Mansion in the dead of night. Ah, you know of its reputation? Now I don’t mind ghost pokemon myself, and I don’t believe tall tales about haunted mansions. But even I was slightly disturbed by this portrait I saw, a painting of a woman, she was smiling but even in the portrait her eyes were sad. It was still in my mind when I found myself in the library…”

Frankie told the guards of a half true, half fabricated account of what she had seen in the haunted mansion, how she had fallen through the floor to rescue an injured pokemon, and met the angry spirits. Instead of the ghost appearing as Vron, it appeared as the mystery woman she had seen in the portrait.

Frankie couldn’t have asked for a better audience. Perhaps it was the dark smokey atmosphere, or the confident way Frankie spoke her piece, but the guards were hanging off her every word.

A shape was emerging from the thick clouds of smoke.

“Well blimey, I see her! I see the ghost lady!”

“Don’t be daft Tim, it’s probably the girl with the Quilava. Or a pokemon.” There was uncertainty in his words.

“No it’s not, it’s human! And she’s floating!”

The three of them stared at the apparition. A woman with an eerily pale face, and a blue, old-fashioned dress floated silently before them, oddly menacing.

Even Frankie was taken aback for a second, then reassured herself that her Froslass’s Confuse Ray must be causing the illusion. It worked even better than she had hoped!

“Why yes, that could be her. But let me tell you more about her power…”

So Frankie told them of the Litwitcks she had by her disposal, and of their terrifying power to drain the life of their victims. How they had been invisible when she’d seen them, appearing only as disembodied blue flames.

The men gasped. Frankie snuck a peek behind her and quickly grinned in satisfaction. Sure enough, blue flames had appeared around the woman’s shape.

That was Kotori’s part, or specifically his Dusclops, using Will-o-Wisp. Felix, Frankie’s Braxien, was also using the same move. The flames carefully danced around Lady, close enough to the “woman” to appear to be her doing, but far enough away to not trouble the ice type pokemon.

Not bad, not bad at all, Frankie thought with satisfaction. It was an idea she’d been toying with for awhile and it really did make a pleasing effect. Well, pleasing for Frankie.

“S-so what did this ghost want?” One guard asked. He was trying to sound undisturbed, but there was a definite tremble in his voice.

“Who knows? But they say this lady collects the souls that her pets gather. Perhaps she is building an army of lost and tormented spirits!”

That was the trainers’ cue. Now that Ollie’s Noodle had plenty of time to cover the area fully with thick smoke, the group of hiding trainers hurried past the guards to the building door. Even to Frankie, the trainers appeared only as confusing shapes rushing towards them.

Frankie winced. Visually the effect was nice, bu their footfalls were decidedly un-ghostly spirit-like. They could have tried tiptoeing!

Thankfully, her audience was too spooked to notice these finer details.

“Todd! What’s that in the mist?”

“Is that a person?”

“Wow, that's really good, how'd they do that effect?”

“Something just bumped me!” Tim whimpered.

“All part of the act!” Frankie hastily clarified. She listened anxiously, it was quiet now. Hopefully everyone had made it inside by now.

“Frankie, come on!” Kotori whispered urgently in her ear.

“Let’s go!” hissed Ollie.

Well, almost everyone. Time to wrap up.

“Thank you, you’ve been a wonderful audience! Check the fliers for showtimes, touring near you!” With those words Frankie stepped back into the smoke, and disappeared from sight. Frankie stayed close to Ollie in the thickest smoke, and she escorted Frankie and Kotori inside.

By the time the gentle breeze blew the last of the smoke away, there was no trace of the performers--aside from one more of Frankie’s fliers on the ground where she had stood.

TL;DR: Frankie, with the help of Ollie and Kotori's pokemon, puts on a spooky show--spooky enough to distract the guards from 8 trainers sneaking in.

After what happened during R2, it was only a matter of time before she figured out how to add ghost illusions to her act! But extra trainers made it work even better than she hoped.

This part just refused to come together, finally just kinda threw something together so I can move on. Hoping to go simpler for the next parts!

This is late as heck, but I just have to say that I love this!  Kotori's just perfect for his part.  I unfortunately got hit in the face with too much life stuff at once that I wasn't able to get around to my entry for this so who knows what happened to him afterwards, but seeing you featuring my trainer is just delightful!

This honestly made me smile even though I'm reading a month late. Rip me Thanks so much for including him!

I love how your entry turned out~! Granted, this distraction would have enabled Aramis to hack into the Congregation's security system and opened all the entrances for everyone to enter.

Now all there's left to do is to scale the inside of the Congregation itself...

True dat! That was a thought that popped in my head too late in the writing process "what if there's an electronic gate...welp, too late now!" But yeah, the smarter answer is probably that Aramis was doing hacker stuff while Frankie and co put on a show.

Should be fine. It'll be fine. It's fine.
