This is actually a painting I completed a few months back for a local art gallery which holds an annual "24 hour Blitz", where they give you a theme and you have 24 hours to create a work around that idea. It's definitely one of my most proudest/favourite pieces, because it's the painting that started taking my watercolour work in a slightly different direction. Hooray! (P.S, I made this piece my new icon/logo, whaddya think?)
So anyway, this years theme, was under "Fusion".
It's inspired by the idea of the whole nature vs. mankind discussion and about origins. To compare any animal or creature, for example, fish, we are so extremely and obviously different, but we are under the same sky, sharing that same ocean. We might live in the ocean, the land or sky. We may even talk, make noises, or make none at all. We may have limbs and arms, fins, or even wings.
We're from Two different worlds, but we share one Ocean.

Really cool how you interpreted the theme, it's so creative. Also love how despite the color contrast you still managed to blend the fishes in the water, really fits your interpretation of the theme.

Aw, thanks so much pal!! I'm honestly so happy to be able see how far I've come with my watercolour work. I used to be so terrified and hated it, but it's so endearing to see where I've come and to even hear that people enjoy it so.
Glad you liked the theme and colour palettes too! It's an idea i feel quite strongly about, an the colours are a combo I've fallen in love with as of late

YOU REALLY THINK SO? I felt really nervous about making the change t my icon, as I had the red hood one for aaaages, so I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to make a sudden switch.

You kinda get this identity with your icon, especially if you got it for a long time, and a change is always.. like as if you change yourself! Exactly!! I guess i had it for so long that i kinda assumed that i'd keep it til the day I die or something, that way it couldve been my lifelong logo hahaha or a mini tradition, but i really liked the idea of the kofish/lips i suppose!

Amazing work as always. She and the ocean do feel like the are fusing together. Though the colors are dark, the overall painting feels vibrant and hold a secret. I love it!!! Great work and congrats!

I like how you titled it, "Two Worlds, One Ocean." It makes me think while viewing the work. I love the subtleness of water's ripples around the fishes, indicating the possibility the lady is drowning but is she really drowning or is it merely a reflection of her? Nice choice of colors!

I like it. It is a nice blend of the two worlds one planet idea. The water effects with your water paints...worked very well. There is one thing I wish was different but I am unsure what could be changed about it. The lady looks a little lifeless/vacant with slowly sinking. It is in line with the rest of your water colored works and I didn't have a problem with them. The picture works very well as it is its just...she looks...lifeless. I wish I could be more understandable about this but I just 'see' something off about this piece. And still find it well done.

Now that you mention it, I really do see what you mean. It really does have a bit more of a sultry/macabre/darker feel to the piece than necessary, particularly through the lifelessness and sultry expression I've given her.

I can deal with spiders, ghastly creatures. But there is just something about drowning that just creeps me out to no end. I don't mind swimming in pools and I do know how to float/kinda swim. Also don't mind being on large bodies of water on boats as long as there are people around in case something goes wrong. It just even the idea of just sinking in to that crushing darkness...

This is lovely, I like where you went with the theme. It's too easy to think we're completely isolated from other creatures because we're so different, but we're all on this big space rock together! We gotta be chill with our fellow earthlings even if we don't always understand them.
