According to Freud, everybody has 2 heads: one that thinks and one that takes the decisions. ^^

It is very interesting you if you like psychology. Freud was way ahead of his time - so much that most other psychologists didn't believe his theory, even decades after his death. ^____^

The strongest Image I got from the 70's is... Hippies. Don't even know if they still existed, but they are what comes into my mind, but I guess the Disco was from that time too. The 80's ain't better in my memory either... I see Flashdance gym clothes and funny female hairs. And Neon colored clothes.

I was Ok with the 80s with some of the best TV series ever and a bearable fashion, but suffered terribly during the 70s. By the way, my brother-in-law is a hippie.

I was born in the 80's, and I don't really like the exegerated colors and some especific items... I wasn't born in the 70's, so I don't know if it was worst then the 80s, either way I really believe that fashion got better from the 80s to the 90s and beyond. I prefer non-radioactive neither sparkling clothes... xD

Is he a Hippie since the 70s?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to Inarispellborn [2009-07-03 06:22:18 +0000 UTC]

If you were born in the 80's, that means you were just a baby and never had to live that fashion. I was born in the 1960s, so I was a teen in the 80s and actually went through the fashion. The sparkling colors were from the 70s, and I was happy to see them behind me in the 80s.

The Hippie movement took off during the late 1960's, but the philosophy started in the 50s, when it was still called "beat culture". ^__^

I remember the radioactive clothes... They started to disappear in the 90's, thankfully.

Before the radioactive clothes there were the sparkling clothes (the rise of the Disco??? A ridiculous picture of my father comes to my mind ) in the 70's then. and before them there was the hippie tiedye clothes.after the radioactive exposure people got a little more sane in fashion, maybe an induced mutation for good... hehe

And today we have a wide range of trends, but the one that seems to grow more this days is the emo... At least here in Brazil with the adolescents.

Just out of curiosity, what is the emo fashion? ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Inarispellborn In reply to ken1171 [2009-07-03 21:47:32 +0000 UTC]

Uhm... Simple plan (a band) copy-paste look? just kidding.

Found this [link] through google, a site dedicated to their culture made by someone who actually seems to like it.

I personally like some things here and there ( that were copyed from other groups tho...) but the overall... I guess there are more poser emos than emos after all, they don't seem authentic, just adolescents trying to stand out of the croud. Emo haircuts are a big dejavu when compared to older anime haircuts and other japanese pop culture references (harajuku beats emos in conceptual experimental fashion in all aspects). The overall depressive aspects fit better at the goths, and the cute little details... still look better at cute little girls.

Now that I started to read all that's written at that site, I'm finding some really funny parts...

Oooh, I didn't know "emo" meant that! I heard it many times but wasn't sure what it means. Say, what about "DiD" pictures? What are those? ^^

Inarispellborn In reply to ken1171 [2009-07-04 00:35:34 +0000 UTC]

uhm... I'm clueless about that. Where did you see those? if it was here at Deviantart, probably refers to Daily Deviations, a sort of a "promotional merchandizing" for the artists that catches the administrators eyes. Each admin can indicate someone elses work once a day and it is featured in a section here at deviantart, wich usually is equal to tons of pageviews and favs flooding your inbox coming from nowhere...

Oh I know DDs because I've got one once, so I was famous for a day. LOL But is called "DID" and I saw it mentioned a number of times here at dA and also other sites, so I don't think it's some particular to this site.

Inarispellborn In reply to ken1171 [2009-07-04 02:01:21 +0000 UTC]

uhm... Yeah, it may be a slang or common sentence converted into an abreviation, such as LOL, WTH, WTF, BFF, ASAP, TGIF and etc...

(making a small research)
...

From what I could get, it means "Damsel in Distress", when a lady is in grave danger, waiting for rescue (preferrably a royal one mounted in a white horse? a cliche). For some reason that I ignore, typing DiD in deviantart leads to a lot of light bondage images, wich quite narrows down the real meaning of it. I mean, towers, cages, tentacles of darkness and all that could compose a scene of damsel in distress, why only ropes and silvertape?.

ken1171 In reply to Inarispellborn [2009-07-04 02:06:21 +0000 UTC]

Ooh I see! DiD is the oldest cliche and a little out of fashion nowadays when we have Lara Croft and April Ryan!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Inarispellborn In reply to ken1171 [2009-07-04 02:22:45 +0000 UTC]

Feminists probably hate DiDs... I personally don't have anything against it, as long as it fits in the story. My problem is when a female character that was supposed to be strong proves to be weak and fragile as a thin paper sheet. You can also use the DiD cliche to lead into a trap, making the hero believe that he is saving someone while he is actually beeing fooled by that person...

Have you ever heard the reason why Lara Croft is a woman? according to her creators, they made her a woman because if they were to see someones ass for thousand of hours, at least they would make it a hot one.

ken1171 In reply to Inarispellborn [2009-07-04 02:39:17 +0000 UTC]

In the latest TR game CD extras, the character designer said the game's main protagonist was a man with a hat and a whip, but they were told they would be sued if they went ahead with that design. Then they decided to make it woman to be safe on the legal side. So in simple terms, Lara was indeed meant to be a female Indiana Jones after all. The fact that she became a phenomenon was more of a surprise to everybody involved.

Yup, I've heard that too. The one that I said I saw in an interview with a member of the staff, it was a joke of course but it kinda fits.

Isn't it amazing that the Lara character design worked out by accident while trying to avoid copyright infringement?
