Description
An OC from Codex Equus who can be found here: www.deviantart.com/brutalityin…Yes, she is a skunk dragon with everything that would imply.
Sulfura
Character: Anti-Villainous/Anti-Heroic
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Type: Hybrid, Skunk Dragon, Trickster, Thief
Faction: Herself
As shown with the Second Age Screwball and the Miscreant Melodys, there is a running theme of thieves who straddle the line of hero and villain. One Fourth Age example of this is Sulfura.
Sulfura was born to a Copper Dragoness of the Mephitidian Dragonflights and a mortal Great Skunk around one hundred years ago, making her a Hybrid (called a Skunk Dragon or Stink Dragon). As is the nature of Copper Dragons, her mother was a naturally mischievous trickster sort, and thus raised her daughter to be the same way. This lead to Sulfura developing her own trickster mentality, and channeling her natural draconic greed and instincts, as well as the Great Skunks' love of high society in various ways. However, as she saw many with wealth and riches exploit and use others for their own ends. While understanding the mentality from an instinctual level, Copper Dragons tend to be Children of Bahamut, she found this undeserving and have an inherit sense of honor to them. Thus, she felt those who take from others should do so 'properly' rather than just sitting back, getting fat while others did their work for them.
As such, Sulfura, using her natural racial intellect and cunning combined with her abilities, would become a trickster and thief. While not exactly 'good,' she would be more ruthless to those she viewed as being unworthy of their wealth. Still, she would also steal from others who didn't hit this category, but like many other such noble thieves, would only do so if there was a challenge involved. She would also do battle with various heroes for fun, never doing too much harm and having respect for those who could beat her, but would show her dragon pride when she wins. However, as to her more neutral nature, she would tend to team up with heroes against other villains at a whim, especially when she feels the villain in question is one she personally views as unworthy.
"Whose side are you on?"
"Yes."
"Hehe, exactly the answer I was expecting."
--- Princess Patch and Sulfura while teaming up against a villain.
This would eventually lead to her to becoming Princess Patch's new rival when she resurrected in the Fourth Age, being reminded of her battles with Screwball and seeing her as similar. This is no surprise, as she considered Screwball an inspiration.
She has notably worked on Dragon Lord Ember's side in her conflicts with more malicious Dragons, especially as the Draconic Reformation continued and Ember contended with the 'Old Guard' and rival Draconic faction such as the Autorist Dragons of the Inferno Dominion, as Ember earned her respect by stopping her attempt to steal from her hoard with her own intelligence. That and she finds duping and stealing from evil, greedy dragons as more fun.
Appearance wise, she's Skunk Dragon, specifically a Copper Dragon. Thus, she has a build of a dragon, with her main body being copper scales, with rusted copper green color fur on her more skunk-like legs, skunk-like ears, and white colored stripes running down her back and down her skunk tail. She's in her late teens-young adult years (which for a half dragon means she's over a hundred years old), and thus is the size of a carriage and is now a quadruped. She's also prone to wearing some of the jewelry she's stolen.
Personality wise, Sulfura is a mischievous trickster by her mere nature as half Copper Dragon and Great Skunks tending towards that due to their parental deity being a Trickster God. She enjoys playing tricks and pranks, going about her thefts with cunning, well done plans and taking pride in them and her victories. This includes in her methods of using her powers, using them in creative ways to pull off her thefts. This includes using her musk. She enjoys outsmarting others and winning, but is likewise a good sport when she herself is beaten. She doesn't view something she can easily steal as worthy of her horde and is known to merely drop items, no matter how valuable they are, if they weren't challenging enough to steal for her tastes. She also known to enjoy playing mind games with others, often time to teach them a lesson. She likes using taunts and jokes to goad opponents to make major mistakes and errors she can exploit.
She has standards for who she considers 'worthy' of having wealth, viewing it as something that should be earned, not obtained through improper means. As such, she will not steal from those who can't afford it, as she views it as beneath her. That said, her dragon's pride means if she beats someone easily, she tends to rub it in their face and consider them beneath her. However, if they put up a fight against her, she'll encourage them to try better next time, and considers those that beat her worthy of her respect. This is noted as being partially a racial trait for Copper Dragons, as they tend to dislike prey that doesn't fight back due to like of challenge when they actually hunt. She also enjoys the finer things, and typically enjoys the luxuries she steals.
She naturally does have her faults. Her pride can get the better of her, and make it difficult to work with her on the occasion she teams with others. She can also sometimes have a 'complexity addiction' that makes her do simple things far more complexly than she needs to to prove her intelligence. Despite being a thief, Copper Dragons are naturally social, and thus she dislikes being genuinely alone.
Power wise, as a Skunk Dragon, she possesses their combined power. She is very physically powerful, with sharp claws and teeth, and durable scales. Copper Dragons are one of the more agile flyers among dragons. Being half Copper Dragon (also called Acid Dragons), being highly resistant to acids and able to breath a potent acidic stream or mist, though it can be altered to act as a numbing chemical to slow opponents down. She is capable of coating her claws and teeth in this to deliver elemental damage. She likes to use this to bypass obstacles in her path in various creative ways. She is naturally capable of spraying a horrid smelling musk from the base of her tail, which due to size can drench her target and thus is far more potent than a normal Great Skunk would be and can easily incapacitate or knock out smaller foes, and has considerable accuracy. As skunk spray is chemical in nature, she has learned to alter her acid breath into a mirror of her skunk spray, though less concentrated and thus less severe, but still horrid. She prefers this to her normal acid breath unless she needs to cause serious harm.
She naturally has her weaknesses. Her underbelly is naturally softer and more vulnerable. Her 'musk breath' also tends to stick to her own mouth, and while she's not affected by it herself, using it gives her extremely bad breath, which she has to neutralize with a different chemical breath. Her spray is of little effect of those with little to no sense of smell. Her large size is also sometimes an issue, though she views these issues in her thefts as an additional challenge to overcome. Her acidic breath can also be blocked by certain materials despite its potency and neutralized with a potent enough base.
While a thief, Sulfura is one of a more noble character, blurring the line between hero and villain, and is certain to bring an interesting future as her career as a thief continues.
