Description You know, I wasn't going to try shading this one, but I did and I'm actually pretty happy I did! Some parts didn't turn out right and the ground looked TERRIBLE compared to the rest of it, can anyone tell me how to do a grass parttern easily? Anyway, about ten layers went into this.

This is the final.

Thanks once again to [link] for letting me draw Nina

----------------

Electric Head (one closest to the screen): Aww! Hello little one! Aren't you a pretty little dragoness!

Nina: Thank you, miss...

Ice Head (center head): Deadlock, dear, we used to be a nursery dragon at the temple before...things happened...

Electric Head (lowering to Nina's level): But don't worry about that, deary. We're friends, don't worry!

-----------------

What they're THINKING:

Electric Head: Aww! What a cute little dragoness! She looks like her mother!

Ice Head: Spyro and Cynder's child. I must admit she's rather cute. Hmm...if that crystal around her neck revived Malefor, I wonder if it could be of use to us...

Fire Head: KILL HER! Spyro and Cynder bother derserve it for what they did to us!

Ice and Electric Heads (Telepathy to Fire Head): NO!

Nina: Why is the red one looking at me like that? And why is there smoke coming out her nose?

-------------------------

Thanks again!

Spyro and related characters: Whoever owns them now, I lost track

Deadlock: Me

Dare I ask what Fire Head is talking about? Cause it doesn't sound very good. And here I thought regular dragons were bad enough. Throw in 3 heads.

Yikes.

Deadlock is kinda insane.

And yeah. Deadlock was the Big Bad of a Spyro fanfic I wrote.

Wow. I've always wondered what deadlock looked like. She actually looks really cool! Do yo think you'll ever do Pyrus, Cryos, or Demi?

I've drawn Pyrus and Cyros, but I haven't colored it, it's in my gallary.

Glad you like her though! She's one of my favorite characters I've made, mainly because she's not a generic villain and is instead a tragic one.

Yeah, just after I posted that comment I looked through your gallery more and saw a picture of them, making me think, "Doh! I shoulda known that they would be there too!"

Also no problem And I completely agree with why you really like Deadlock. I think I've only seen one villian that is a little tragic, but still somewhat generic, so it's a nice change from the usual "Mwahaha! Malefor is dead so I'm going to randomly appear and take over the world for no reason at all!" character. I still think stories with those characters can be really good, but a deep backstory definitely makes a story more interesting.

True. And now I'm planning to make it a trilogy of stories. The main villains of the other two both have very good reasons for showing up. Well, one does and is rather tragic, and that's the third villain. The second villain has a reason for showing up when he does, but is pretty much pure evil. I won't say much cause I don't want to spoil it, but he's pretty much the Dragon equalivalant of the Boogieman and as bad as Empress Tyrania is, he's even worse.

(Insert overly hyper celebration from overdose on epic news here)
That's great to know! I love hearing about people making a series out of great books!

Oh and btw, just some random fact: When I first started reading your story I kept thinking, "Why can dragons only have eggs once every 12 years? And why is it being called the Year of the Dragon?" Then I saw something that explained the story for Spyro 3.

Thanks, I'm glad you're happy. The second one's working tile is "The Legend Of Spyro: The Darkest Hour" and for the third one is "The Legend Of Spyro: The Fading Twilight", but both are probably going to change before they're posted. And yes, there is symbolism of the story in the titles, however, each one is somewhat self sustained, so if I for somereason don't continue it, no one misses anything. I've learned from my past mistakes.

Hmm, in my story, I just went by what was established in the game. What did it say in Spyro 3?

Well, I was just watching something that explained what happened in the game, and the maker of the video said The Year of the Dragon was a festival held once every twelve years, when all the eggs were laid.

Ah, I see. In the Legend Of Spyro: A New Dawn, it was just the Dragon Mating season. It's just kind of a weird quirk of their biology.

Have you reviewed the fic? Just checking since your name isn't the same as any of my reviewers and I'm wondering if that's the case.

Yeah, that makes sense. My penname is Kevin Slett, I usually use PheerthaniteX, but I wanted my penname to seem more like a real name, so I came up with that one.

Ah, alright. It's an intresting name, that's for sure. So what's your feel for the story so far?

PheerthaniteX In reply to Kendell2 [2011-08-06 04:30:39 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's better than most, and it is definitely one of the first five I check to see if it has been updated. I definitely like the way you portray Ember as a kind person that just had an "idol crush" as I call it, on Spyro, rather than some annoying little that won't back off. Also, it's nice to see her become fire gaurdian, since most people give that title to flame, and most importantly, Ignitus is CYNDER's father. Almost every story I've read is like that, and while it may have been an interesting revelation the first time, by now it's almost as predicting who that mysterious fire dragon is. I don't have a problem with Flame and Ember, as long as their personalities aren't exactly the same as everyone else's. So I want to thank you for mixing things up a bit.

Kendell2 In reply to PheerthaniteX [2011-08-06 13:27:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that was actually my entire reason for putting her in the story at first, to avert the sterotype Ember normally gets and make her a likeable, kindhearted character instead of the selfish, brat she's normally portrayed as. She just kind of grew on me and ended up being part of the main focus of the Gargoyle Arc. And yeah, I made her Fire Guardian because I thought it was both a good role for her and that a female Fire Guardian would be cool. Same with Ignitus being Cynder's dad as opposed to Spyro's. EVERYONE makes him Spyro's dad, so I shook things up.

Flame WILL appear in the sequel, not this one. And while he will be related to Ember, it'll be in a way that no one would probably expect.

The shading dosen't look too bad. maybe a little bit less sunshine on Nina's back though.

That was mostly due to the sun effect I added in I think, made it seem a bit brighter.

Glad you liked it though!
