It would be so tempting for me before my chin went under to open my mouth and my eyes and let the quicksand cover me over and flow into my mouth, swalowing over and over, and once it had covered my head, to let out my breathe, listen to it hiss at the surface, then inhale, exhale, inhale, and just let the quicksand have masterey over me.Β I would so want to go out of sight, and be swallowed, and hear the surface hissing and bubbling above me over the sound of my thundering heart.Β The surface above me beyond the reach of my hands.Exhaling and inhaling and swallowing over and over, over and over, until the quicksand had won and owned me.
It's a secret fantasey, and I am still alive and around only because I have never found quicksand to sink into, and I feel sure that if I did find some, I would be temted fattally alurred to let it happen for the shere experiance of having this stuff have power over me.

I'm imagining the photographer who is taking this picture is experiencing a totally rarified feeling watching while shooting this sinking woman.Β When I'm looking at this picture -for a moment- I'm imagining I am the photographer and maybe I'm right in with her, nearly as deep as she is, watching her.Β ItΒ Β isΒ Β fun!Β But I'll need to protect my camera real soon!
