Description
This is a companion piece to the actual Portait of Dorian Gray already uploaded (I think), and was done for an educational magazine years ago. They wanted a piece similar to a portrait of Clive Barker I had done. Watercolor, about 12 x 14.Related content

Just like the book - in the way that it is perfect and horrific and beautifully compelling. A wonderful portrayal of Dorian

You could be right...to be honest, I didn't read the whole book. The client had sort of a reader's digest version (cliff notes version maybe?), and I was more concerned with the overall mood.

that's ok, although your art is beautiful
I'm a big fan of Wilde, so I was sort of intrigued

awesome illustration, from an illustrator's standpoint it's so well representative of the events of the story. and from the fine artist's view it's so refreshing to see high quality painting that flaunts the characteristics of the medium. I know it's a w/c painting and it's not trying to be anything else

This is just too cool. What a great concept! It's beautiful and horrifying at the same time. I love those purple "clouds" coming off of his face; makes it look as if it was burning away into smoke.
If you haven't yet, check out The Portrait of Dorian Gray that was done for the movie of the same name. I saw it at the Chicago Art Museum... very scary. In fact, I wonder if it inspired you at all...
Lovely work!

Reminds me strangely of Michael Crawford. (Whom I adore, actually.)
Very nicely done, I haven't ever seen a Dorian Grey picture like this before.

I just finished reading the book last month or so and I have to say you've captured the essance of the portrait quite well showing the transformation of the character of Dorian Gray. The book itself is wonderfully written and I loved how Wilde showed such a unique and intriguing character. The colours and the details you've used here are quite stunning - this is deffinately a wonderful visulisation embedded into an image!

Awesome art.
But here is an observation. I read a few pages from the book (I didn't like it at all, so I never finished it), and Dorian Gray's hair is blonde and wavy.
