A winter wren. In mythology the wren is associated with the God of death and the hunt: in British lore a wren is killed at winter solstice to signify the death of winter and the return of the sun. NICE!! You did an amazing job with the fine details (it looks like oils, but I know it's not). I like how all the colors seem to have at least some earth tones in them, which gives the whole piece the feeling of being part of nature.

The colors remind me a bit of the palette that Paul Klee might have used.

Klee, huh? I never thought of him...
The wren is a very 'earth toned' bird. I considered using a Fairy Wren, which is brightly colored, but decided against it: I like the browns and muted golds of the Winter Wren. My accent/shadow color (also used in the wood) was Prussian Blue.
