Description Ah, the Buckyball! Or more scientifically Buckminsterfullerene. This is 60 carbon atoms arranged in a fantastically stable sphere shape. Each pentagon, of which there are 12, is surrouned by 5 hexagons. Amazing! You can learn science while having fun!

Fun Fact! This was the first modular pice I did after the Sonobe Cube. Quite a jump!

Made with 90 PHiZZ modules: [link]

Maybe, but you never really know until you try, do you? I suggest maybe give the smaller ball a try first (30 modules) to see if you can do it. If so, then move on to this one.

It DOES look like one of those things you're not allowed to touch in science class I also love the photo, the way you made it catch the light through the window.

Yes, I totally meant to do that

(psst! I'll let you in on a secret. I totally didn't mean to do that! I was just taking a picture and it happened like that. Which is awesome, cuz it prbably wouldn't ahve been this good if I tried for it.)

I'm glad you like it!

Whoa, it looks like those things in science class that your not suppose to touch but you do anyway

Kessukoofah In reply to GevaTaylor [2010-07-19 15:50:38 +0000 UTC]

Ya, I remember touching those. And then building them in Organic Chem from moleecule sets. Ah, fun times. And the reason it looks like that, is cuz it is like that. It's a molecule, just made out of paper instead of plastic. (Ironically enough, it's made of carbon (paper) and represents a carbon molecule (Buckminsterfullerene). Haha!)

haha, wow the fact that i understood that scared me because i HATE chemistry, i almost didn't pass science because of it, but i study my ass of and got out of it with a C

I know!
Thanks for the comment! I really appreciate them. Expecially on my non-llama stuff. I know that everyone loves llamas, but to be recognized for something liek this is much more touching.

I actually know somebody who hates llamas. Really. He doesn't even return them.

...Have you checked this person for signs of being a robot yet? It's very important that you catch them before the revolution comes.

No, I've checked. Although, I have eliminated two agents recently. They're crafty bastards alright, just not crafty enough to fool me. Unfortunately, I cannot eliminate all of them, so when the time finally comes, they will hunt me, and they will kill me. But first, they will need to catch me, digger, listener, runner, prince with a swift warning.

I agree. It's a new camera, so I was playing around with differant locations in the room to get the hang of it and this was by far the best shot. I should try taking more pictures by a window. Natual light is great!

Taysk In reply to Kessukoofah [2010-07-16 12:34:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes! Natural light is great!

Now that I have a camera (before I took pictures with my cellphone...) I try to take pictures in many places always with natural light.

I think if this picture had a plant in the window (that is behind the kusudama) it would be great! Don't you think?

Kessukoofah In reply to Taysk [2010-07-16 12:59:36 +0000 UTC]

You know, you might just be right! I'll have to experiment a bit.I'm so used to using my crappy cellphone camera that image composition just never occured to me. I was happy if the image came out clear. I wonder if I should go back and rethink many of my pictures. Most of them could be improved I think.

I'm happy I helped you!\o/
When you put your kusudama near to a plant or other object It calls more attention and makes your origami more beautiful.
You can put your origami near to the camera and some scenery (a lake, a tree, a flower, a cat, a vase... I don't know... anything...) behind it.

Thank you! I agree.

Serisouly though, this is child's play compared to some of the stuff on your page! I espcially like "Kusudama blue and white". Am I mistaken, or is that an application of the sonobe module? I haven't experimented with them much beyond the cube, and that looks good enough I might want to try it!
