Photoshop 5.5"Damari is young, and meekly becoming used to her growing body as she transforms from a child to a young woman. Although inside she struggles with her development, she shows her peers that she is advancing to the next stage of adulthood with grace and finesse. ...Although, sometimes, in her moments of solitude, she solemnly contemplates her future as a learning druidic acolyte. Born with a bit of a gift shared with her sister, Kestrel, she advances faster than most students her age, for which she is grateful."

Yeah, I know! Well, this was just a concept sketch to get Damari's basic colors down while I was thinking about them, this wasn't supposed to be anything particularly extravagant. I used no references and wasn't really planning to, but what the heck. ^^

I moved my RO characters from Iris to Loki, I thought about Chaos, but not for too long. ._. Chaos is a pit, lol, the only reason I even thought twice about it was because I have so many friends on Chaos, but ... Oh well. :\

Beautiful line work. I love how it stays through the color job, which is also phenomenal. Such fine detail in itβs placement in the patters and lighting effect. The background brings more of the soft qualities you have out with those clouds. X}did I mention I really want to pet it? *Ahum* I mean what creatures are she based off of? Because, believe it or not I have a character that would love to meet yours ^___x they look a lot alike.

Well, originally they were kind of a mishmash of different things, but now I just draw them with sort of a romanesque-classical point of view; the most fitting and beautiful aspects of any one particular species I tend to enjoy looking at are mushed into these guys.
I suppose I could say that overall they have the skull structure of a mountain lion and the wing structure of any one general vulture. Can't say much else about the rest of them, because their colors are a wide range of natural tones that don't necessarily adhere to typical earth-animals. They are, after all, on their own world, not earth!

some interesting moves here - such creatures are usually presented dominant, mighty, and in control, wich in my mind is a bit cliche and too distant. this one is pathetic and smacked down, giving it some personality, whilst any other similar creatures in dA seem to present a single mainstream ideal. i also like the minimal background

woah, a daily dev? da has gone to the dogs. what is she/he doing there? floating? sitting on something? we can't tell due to the dominating white space which just screams lazy artist. the wing on the far side looks like its not even attached to the same critter, let alone matches with the other wing. and i'm surprised she hasn't fallen over due to the weight of her huge head.

I'm just hoping I didn't make them TOO different. Lol D: Color wise and almost even structurally, Damari and Kestrel have minimal in common, except for their blue eyes. Damari is a lot more petite and fuller in her womanly places in comparison to Kestrel's body, which is thinner and less voluptuous, plus Damari's wings are a lot smaller which is better concieved as beautiful as wings in Thevat culture are vestigal and decorative at best.

I think the difference really helps though. And that's really interesting that the wings are vestigal. Also that different sized wings are different levels of beauty within the culture. Can't wait to see more. ^^
