This is heavily, if not a 97% copy of 's dragon painting. So credit goes to her and her amazing work. This is basically a master study to practice scales and painting techniques. Im still super scared to try full perfect color paintings. but i enjoyed making this. So yea!ΒRelated content

This work is rly amazing.. all the details and lights and shadows.. rly rly great!... it looks so real with the realistic style you draw it..
and.. why are you scared of coloring it? .. it's digital, so you can make a new layer above this one, set to multiply and then put some colors on it. couldn't you? .. i just started digital art a half year ago, so that's how i would color it ^^ but surely you got other methods since this picture is one year old x3

Well, I'm learning how to paint directly with color. Though I like sometimes coloring on top of a greyscale painting, it sometimes is a cheap trick and doesnt come out well. And for a painting like this, 'overlay' would be a better option than 'multiply' and even then you'd want to get some base colors down and then eventually paint on top with opaque colors. Im playing around with various methods of making colored works as you can see in my newer pieces in my gallery.

Yes i saw it alrdy, so i am wuite new with this medium as i said, so looking how you and other artists color their work is rly interesting. many ppl say i should make a multiply layer because i also started with black/white pictures and never painted because i was scared of the result..Β since i just start to color i saw that it'sΒ worht practicing it becauseΒ colored works are also rly great so i tried to go that way.
I rly love your works and realistic style.. but.. you haven't got any tutorials, have you? .. would love to learn from you :')

I guess it depends on what style of work you have before you color it and the overall look you're striving for. People just need to learn to control their colors and pick colors well. And most important, you need to know that you can't rely on cheap photoshop tricks to make your work look good.Β
and no i dont really have any tutorials on how i paint. I dont think myself good enough to make one. Maybe someday though

Yes the colors you pick are rly important because 'wrong' colors make the picture look too unnatural if you want it to be realistic :')

This looks great Kevin! Great study if I do say so myself. I would also recommend looking at a lot of reptiles too and study their scales, it's great information to have if you like scales as much as I do
