I hate what Nick Simmons has done, but I honestly think he should try to redraw the whole series all over again, in his own style. And continue it. I haven't even read it but I saw some pages and can tell he copied of of Bleach and that one character 'Mot' has a strange resemblance to Alucard from Hellsing.
But yeah, Nick Simmons should try to remake the series in his own original style.

What makes me laugh the most is the fact that people try to defend him, saying, "There's only so many poses in the manga world!!!"

That's true, but consider composition and use of style.
The fact that Nick's style changed SO much throughout each panel simply screamed rip-off. I'm not necessarily accusing him of tracing, because some people are good at copying by sight. But REALLY.
What ~KEVFU has done here has highlighted it. You can have a similar pose placed specifically in a certain area of a panel. But when it's EXACTLY the same, it's no different from recoloring. The layout of Kubo's panels is something that can't be imitated, because each one has it's own emotion. The close-up of a face in the center of the panel, or one like this off to the side...that's what I mean.

He said it was a homage, but nobody bought it. Radical Comics ended the series at three issues and canceled production of the comic indefinitely. Nick Simmons hasn't worked on any more comics as far as I know, but he only makes a comic a year so I'm not making any bets. Chances are he's not gonna be back in the industry any time soon.

Darn. I was hoping it was the same girl...I got into an argument with a Summerwhatever who tried to say Nick wasn't tracing he was copying! It's only anime fans who are losing their cool over this and we should all get a life.
Long story short, I tried to explain to her that it had nothing to do with tracing anime, if he had done it with an American comic people would still be angry, plus he stole sentences from Bleach and traced another picture and didn't bother to even change a detail on it and then resold for money, it was the fact he plagiarized and won't admit up to it. She proceeded to call me a anime retard or something along those lines and said that The Hulk and The Thing should be considered plagiarizing since they look so much alike. The producer of The Wolfman remake should be attacked 'cuz he's plagiarizing too by remaking the movie and people who make fanart and fanfiction should be sued for stealing.
The convo went on like that for a bit. It's sad when you're just trying to explain that plagiarism is wrong and illegal and the only thing the person you're explaining to is more worried over remake movies and comic characters looking alike.

Um, just because a press release comes out denying everything doesn't make him "cleared" of anything.
That's not how the law works. If it did, murderers could just say "Not Guilty" and go free. Paying homage doesn't include copying panels exactly, nor tracing deviantart works you find.
